@misskuntz1@LightEduFires@TomSchimmer I think the best thing is it’s not any more complicated than how headings been done in the past. It’s now just more clear to everyone what the student either knows or needs to improve upon.
@LightEduFires Our grading is 100% “summative” (they keep trying until they become proficient) so really it’s a formative until the very end. But the homework is entered into the grade book but weighted 0%. This allows students to feel secure in their attempts to learn the material. #msum644
@LightEduFires@TomSchimmer I would like to have scheduled times during the evening of open house at the start of every year to address grading and expectations with parents. A time where parents can ask questions as a group and certain items like SBG can be discussed.
@LightEduFires@TomSchimmer We already switched to SBG in Detroit Lakes at the Elementary and Middle school. Definitely the most difficult thing was having parents understand and get on board with our new grading system. I still have parents that struggle and we’ve transitioned for 4 or 5 years now #msum644
