What happened in Shangkai today is deeply disturbing and heartbreaking. Seeing images and reports of women and men being injured during a security operation leaves me with more questions than answers. Security forces are deployed to protect civilians, not to instill fear among them. When ordinary villagers, especially women, are caught in such situations, it only widens the gap between the people and those entrusted with maintaining peace.
What makes this even more painful is that this is not an isolated incident. Over the past months, there have been repeated complaints and allegations of excessive force, intimidation, restrictions on civilian movement, raids, and actions that many communities perceive as unfair and disproportionate. Each such incident chips away at public trust and leaves lasting scars on already traumatized Kuki-Zo communities.
No citizen should have to live in fear of those meant to ensure their safety. The people of Shangkai deserve answers, justice, and accountability. Those who were injured deserve proper medical care and support. Above all, the truth must come out through an impartial and transparent inquiry.
Peace cannot be built through force alone. It requires trust, respect, restraint, and a genuine commitment to protecting the dignity and rights of every citizen.
Why's there partiality of security personnel in Shangkai and Kanglatongbi incidents?

THE BIBLE COLLEGE STILL STANDS IN RUINS — A SHAMEFUL ACT OF VIOLENCE
Imphal, Manipur
On May 4, 2023, Trulock Theological College located to the heart of Imphal city was reduced to ashes on what should have been a joyful graduation day.
As students and families gathered to celebrate, members of #ArambaiTenggol allegedly stormed the campus, looted valuables, and burned the entire seminary to the ground.
Today, the Bible college remains in ruins — a painful symbol of hatred, destruction, and an attack on faith, education, and humanity itself. Such barbaric violence deserves the strongest condemnation and must never be forgotten.

A truck driver lost his life today on the Imphal–Ukhrul Road after the Manipur Govt. forcefully attempted to break the shutdown called by Kuki Inpi Manipur demanding justice for our 3 murdered Pastors and the release of 14 Kuki hostages still held since May 13.
When Naga women blocked essential supplies, no rubber bullets, tear gas, or force were used. But against the Kuki women, the security forces unleashed excessive force, injuring many.
Selective justice. State-sponsored discrimination. The Government of Manipur must be held responsible for today’s chaos and bloodshed.
Justice cannot be community-specific.

Nothing to worry about. It's only been 3+ years. This is considered very NORMAL now in #Manipur.

Subject: Action Sought Against NSCN-IM Threats to Zeliangrong Community – Press Release dated 28.05.2026 by RK Alung, Kilonser, CAO/Caretaker, MZR.
This is to bring to your kind notice that the Tangkhul-led NSCN-IM, a group under ceasefire with the Government of India, has issued threats to the Zeliangrong community in Tamenglong District. As per its press release dated 28.05.2026, the group has directed each village to provide two youths for enrollment in the NSCN-IM through the Naga Village Guard (NVG) by 01.06.2026, with threats of action against civilians in case of non-compliance.
It is apprehended that this is a coercive attempt to expand the NSCN-IM’s influence and illicit narcotics activities into Tamenglong, Chandel, and Senapati Districts. The group is allegedly operating with support from Meitei secessionist narco-terrorist elements in Manipur and has been responsible for creating unrest in the hill areas.
In view of the above, it is requested that stringent action be initiated against the NSCN-IM for violating ceasefire ground rules, and that all unauthorised NSCN-IM camps in Tamenglong, Chandel, and Senapati Districts be removed immediately to ensure the safety and security of innocent civilians.

Sangkai Kuki Village, Manipur, 29 May 2026: – Outrage has erupted over an alleged incident in Sangkai Kuki village where “Tangkhul Manipur police” reportedly opened fire on unarmed civilians.
The statement claims innocent villagers were “terrorized and shot at without provocation” during the incident. It condemns what it calls “state-sponsored violence and brutality against innocent people.”
Police are mandated to protect all innocent civilians — whether Kuki, Meitei, or Tangkhul — without bias. Firing on unarmed villagers betrays that fundamental duty and erodes public trust in law enforcement. When those sworn to uphold the law are accused of targeting the people they should safeguard, it demands immediate accountability, impartial investigation, and justice for victims.
Targeting civilians is unacceptable under any circumstances. The role of police is to maintain peace and protect lives across all communities, not to endanger them. Such alleged actions must be condemned, and those responsible must face due process.

Manipur:Hi @rlungleng why don’t you fact check this too? These are the latest visuals of Tangkhul women trying to snatch the weapons of Indian Armed Forces possibly for NSCN-IM. There’s already a threat to the lives of the soldiers why no bullet fired @official_dgar@Spearcorps?
The #Manipur conflict must not become a platform for NSCN-IM or any proxy group to recruit and train youth for violence. Pushing young people toward hatred, fear, and bloodshed destroys their future. Peace, justice, and accountability must prevail. #Kohima#Dimapur#Nagaland

PRESS RELEASE
Clarification on Clan Identity of Michael Lamjathang Haokip and Appeal to Media Houses
Ref. No: HYO/Press/05/2026
Date: May 16, 2026
The Haokip Youth Organisation (HYO) issues this clarification to address misinformation circulating in public discourse and on social media regarding the clan identity of Mr. Michael Lamjathang Haokip. These misrepresentations have caused confusion within the Kuki community. To maintain factual accuracy, HYO finds it necessary to state the correct position on his clan affiliation.
1. *Clan Identity*: Mr. Michael Lamjathang Haokip belongs to the Haokip clan. He is not from the Thadou clan. Any reference identifying him as Thadou is factually incorrect and must be corrected.
2. *On Thadou Recognition*: The public is urged not to misunderstand that Haokip, Kipgen, and Thadou are “sons of Thalhun.” The 1956 recognition of tribes in Manipur under the name “Thadou” was a mistake. This classification has not been accepted by other clans of similar dialects within the Kuki community, including Haokip, Kipgen, Guite, Lunkim, Kilong, Haolai, Touthang, Changsan, Lhungdim, Misao, and others. Each clan maintains its distinct identity, history, and lineage.
3. *Non-Representation*: Mr. Michael Lamjathang Haokip and his self-styled organisations do not represent the Kuki community or the Thadou clan. The legitimate bodies representing Thadou affairs are Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), Thadou Students’ Association (TSA), Thadou Community International (TCI), Thadou Human Rights Advocacy (THRA), and Thadou Youth Union (TYU). Any claim to the contrary by Mr. Michael Lamjathang Haokip or his associates is unauthorised and misleading.
4. *Appeal to Media Houses*: HYO requests all media houses, journalists, and online platforms not to publish or entertain news items, statements, or press releases related to Mr. Michael Lamjathang Haokip, Mr. James Haokip, and former Chief Minister of Manipur Mr. N. Biren Singh when such content uses the Thadou name in a manner that misrepresents clan identities or creates confusion within the Kuki community.
The Organisation stands for truth, peace, and mutual respect among all clans. Misrepresentation of clan identities fuels misunderstanding and disharmony. We appeal for responsible reporting and urge the public to verify facts before sharing.
