It is literally insane simultaneously to think that 16 and 17 year olds are mature enough to vote but not mature enough to look at Instagram at 8:30pm. This is comically absurd.
@AlistairCarns had a distinguished military career. It is damning that Benn, Starmer, Hermer, Reeves and others would not listen to him on lawfare, the Northern Ireland Bill, on defence transformation or on financial resources; and all credit to this RM veteran for stepping into the breach and his resignation on principle.
His dynamite resignation, on the back of the Healey exit represents the necessary detonation of a political bomb under UK defence; highlighting how screwed up it all really is, how badly Starmer is lying to the country, and how totally irresponsible is this @UKLabour government.
Carns is very right on the big things, the MoD and the ācentreā are not facing reality on the changing technologies of war, they are not getting the resources they need and they are not defending veterans from lawfare. On this latter and vital point, this is led and encouraged by the UKās own Attorney General as chief back-stabber.
For this, Hermer should be the next to go. And by the way, donāt expect much from the Starmer-loyalist, ex-Para Jarvisā¦.not every Politician has the guts to do what Carns and Healey have just doneā¦
Senior figures at Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, under the command of Andy Burnham, have cautioned firefighters who support Reform UK over their political views.
In a further chilling assault on free speech, staff have also effectively been urged in an email to report colleagues who support Reform.
Fire brigade bosses have also said they are seeking legal advice on what to do about firefighters who decide to stand as Reform UK candidates. This is despite the fact that, unlike police officers, there is no legal bar preventing firefighters from participating in national or local politics.
In their email, fire brigade bosses Mr Petch and Ms Ahmed said: āWe are aware that some staff members have chosen to represent Reform UK in their local areas. We know this may cause concern within our network and wider.
āThe individuals involved have been spoken to, to make it clear that as members of GMFRS (Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service) our core values and professional behaviours must be displayed at all times.
āThe service is currently seeking formal legal guidance⦠to ensure we are protected from all perspectives and that our inclusive culture remains safe.
āOur priority is and always will be ensuring that every member of this network feels supported, respected and safe at work.ā
They also confirmed that they would be consulting the Fire Brigades Union on the matter.
In his role as Mayor of Greater Manchester, @AndyBurnhamGM ā who is also tipped by some to be a future Prime Minister if he wins the Makerfield by-election ā is also Greater Manchesterās Fire Commissioner, responsible for overseeing the service.
General Secretary of the Free Speech Union, Lord Young of Acton, has now written to Mr Burnham to raise concerns about the chilling effect this has on free speech.
Lord Young said that the āclear implicationā of the email from the fire brigade bosses was that ārepresenting Reform UK constitutes an inherent threat to the institutionās culture and values and is to be treated as morally suspectā. He also highlighted that no action appears to have been taken against firefighters who support other political parties.
The letter also states: āStaff are further invited to report colleagues who support any groups that go against the serviceās values, which effectively amounts to an instruction to inform on colleagues for their political beliefs.
āThe email will create a chilling effect on the free speech of GMFRS employees who support Reform.
āThe practical effect is that a public fire and rescue service governed by you is treating the lawful political activity of your electoral opponents as a reputational risk to their employer.
āRegardless of whether this reflects your instruction, it reflects your governance; and a public office-holder who permits his institution to demonise or chill the speech and political activity of those who support his principal electoral rival cannot claim to be discharging that office with the impartiality it demands.ā

This is by far the best video I have come across that explains, in the most simplest way possible, the ignorance and hypocrisy of those determined to condemn Israelās actions without any understanding of what is truly happening.
Before anyone claims itās āall liesā, every point in this video, such as the firing of rockets from atop buildings housing schools and hospitals or the theft and resale of aid, has been thoroughly documented and proven multiple times. There is no room for whataboutism here.
@CherylWroteIt , @NiohBerg , @Erin_Molan , @davidmdraiman - You guys need to see this. Itās so well done.
Cannot begin to explain what a magnificent human being Gary OāDonoghue is. A terrific broadcaster. Never sensationalised a single thing in his life. Pure, straight facts.
Has been totally blind since he was eight years old.
Incredible calm on air for hours. Role model.
