That depends. You DO need the seed in order to validate that your wallet is correctly following RFC 6979.

You DON’T need the seed to test if an anti-exfil (Jade) nonce is properly incorporating host entropy.

(However, if both the Jade AND the host wallet (Blockstream App, formerly known as Blockstream Green) are compromised and colluding, you won’t be able to catch that without the seed.)

@adam3us yes. mostly here for the lols and nerdsniping. but also getting the “dice roll bros” (of which i am one) to consider that rolling dice once isn’t a magic wand that solves everything.

@MandelDuck yes, e.g. RFC 6979 uses the sighash and private key to generate a deterministic nonce. but not all wallets use it! and users likely never audit it! so dice rolls or gtfo! /s

@D_plus__plus anti-exfil is the way to protect yourself from rogue HWW with trapdoor non-random/decodable nonces when you thought it was doing deterministic DSA/Schnorr.
