@JuergenStrobel yeah you could use that convention but in bitcoin we don't tend to. you're right it's not really addition nor multiplication - it's a secret third thing.

ECDLP isn't a log problem it's a division problem. the name is just a diffie-hellman hand-me-down. on a curve you're asking "what scalar k satisfies P = kG" which is P/G which is undefined which is why your coins are safe. log base what. log base whomst.
