@brodenholland@cropmad Yeah cool. Been thinking about it with canola in the hills. Big variation in maturity between the hills & flats is obviously challenging to manage at windrowing
@brodenholland@cropmad VR variety could be an interesting trial Broden? Running two bins with slightly different maturity varieties. Gradually transition out of one into the other based on elevation / aspect. Obviously some logistical challenges with the bin although could be a cool trial
@phil_honey@agrobaz@data_farming@vrtsolutions We see actionable data with predictable trends coming out of both methods. Nothing perfect about PA! But when you keep the solution simple the results can be impressive for all inputs
@agrobaz@phil_honey@data_farming@vrtsolutions Both methods are big steps in the right direction in my opinion. Having both options up your sleeve depending on your location & soil type is the go 👍
@cropmad@jakeonfarm@PCTagcloud tools will do a nice job of this John. Particularly with hi-res imagery. The strips on the northern side will make it a bit challenging. Potentially wait until they are full of water & NIR should show up nicely.
Using spatial data to change the way we think about lime & gypsum inputs this summer.
Next step is segmented comprehensive soil sampling within each management zone to determine appropriate rates 👍

Fine tuning nitrogen inputs using satellite imagery & deep N testing.
Saving $63/ha on urea in the red low production zones and reinvesting in the green zones = increasing input use efficiency with simple data layers.
Following on from the success last summer, corn is going into the ground at Inverell. Using VR to vary planting rates according to soil water holding capacity.

@becsta1984@agronomeiste Hi @becsta1984, similar observation around Grenfell/Young last season. 2019 in-crop N rich strip increased 2020 canola yield by 0.4t/ha. Old paddock history also influencing results.
Mapping soil depth over decomposed rock at Inverell. Helping estimate spatial variation in plant available water with paddocks.
Second year of variable rate corn seed to follow based on this data.
Elevation & Slope proving to be valuable data layers in helping differentiate soil types around Young, Harden & Cowra. Particularly in data poor paddocks coming out of pasture.
0-10cm & 10-20cm soil analysis by zone to help manage acid throttle=VR lime over the summer to follow
Building trials into prescriptions to monitor / challenge input strategies.
Example from central west NSW = challenging N application in high & low production (wet) areas. Yield analysis to follow.
