Today, Canada’s Chief Trade Negotiator and I met with our American and Mexican counterparts to undertake the Joint Review of the CUSMA.
I reaffirmed Canada’s unwavering support for the CUSMA and its renewal. The agreement remains in force until 2036 and can be renewed at any time for another 16-year period.

Do you think that we have free trade of Canadian products within Canada?
You’d be wrong!
Why is it then that 🇨🇦 beer, wine and spirits still face interprovincial trade barriers today, despite all the talk of ‘Team Canada’?
This October, let’s choose connection.
A thoughtful piece by @Dan_Paszkowski on the importance of human connection through simple gestures like sharing a glass of wine and conversation.

Goldy Hyder "We need to be able to work with one voice. And that voice in a trade war requires a general. And in Canada, that has to be the Prime Minister."
"...Let's take a hard look at ourselves here. We have been imposing tariffs on Canadians for decades in the form of interprovincial trade barriers."
"So if Canadian premiers are so worried about tariffs, maybe we should make a much more rapid movement on bringing those tariffs down and take this moment as an opportunity to take control of our own destiny, of our own economy, and become a little less reliant on others." @BizCouncilofCan@goldyhyder
As sales of Ontario wines surge and the “Buy Canadian” movement gains momentum, experts from Brock University say there’s never been a more critical time for wineries to embrace and promote their Canadian identity.

Annual excise tax hikes aren't the way to build a stronger economy. Canada's beverage alcohol sector supports thousands of jobs. Let's keep it strong. #cdnpoli#SupportLocalBusinesses
Big news for Canadian wine producers & consumers! On July 8, a historic agreement was reached to allow Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) alcohol shipping across 9 provinces & 1 territory! Full implementation by May 2026, with many provinces starting sooner!
#cdnwine#cdnpoli
We're calling on all signatories the new DTC agreement to adopt the zero-fee, zero-markup best practices established in NS, BC, & MB. Ensure all Canadians have access to amazing Canadian wines delivered right to their door!!

Neo-prohibitionists have been scoring wins across the world to reduce consumer access to alcohol and increase paranoia around having a nightcap. @davidclement has the latest in a chat with @RichardMorrison@ceidotorg

🇨🇦 Happy Canada Day! Grateful for this beautiful country, its diverse cultures, and of course, incredible Canadian wine. Here’s to raising a glass to the land we call home! 🍷🍁 #CanadaDay
Iran’s nuclear programme is a grave threat to international security, and Canada has been consistently clear that Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.
While U.S. military action taken last night was designed to alleviate that threat, the situation in the Middle East remains highly volatile. Stability in the region is a priority.
Canada calls on parties to return immediately to the negotiating table and reach a diplomatic solution to end this crisis. As G7 leaders agreed in Kananaskis, the resolution of the Iranian crisis should lead to a broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza.
Ontario’s wine industry is entering a new era of growth and opportunity with the announcement that 24 new grape varieties have been added to the list of those eligible for Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) certification.

"Saying there is 'no safe level' of alcohol is as fatuous as saying there is 'no safe level' of swimming or driving or sex."
@davidclement for @financialpost on the new bills on banning alcohol ads and mandatory warning labels on every bottle.
Canadians aren’t children—stop the nanny state overreach. 🍺
This week we launched the Prime Minister’s Economic Growth Caucus, which I will be co-chairing with @RachelBendayan. The caucus will serve as a key forum to bring Canada’s leading economic voices to Ottawa to engage our @liberal_party team on the Ideas and policies to help ensure we have the fastest growing economy in the G7.
We welcomed Nancy Southern, CEO of @ATCO and leading economists from across the country. Next week @CFIB will be presenting from @CFIBNews as will Tracy Robinson from @CNRailway. It’s an exciting time to be supporting @MarkJCarney and the work we are doing to drive positive change across Canada 🇨🇦.
Sharing David Clement's insightful take in today's Financial Post on Sen. Brazeau's proposed alcohol restrictions. Clement argues for education over heavy-handed, "nanny-state" policies that misrepresent risk and undermine individual liberty. #cdnpoli
