Attention Sony PSX DVR Fans!

As you may know there is an ongoing concern with PSX hard drives failing and there is currently no low cost option to replace them.

Our favorite professional data recovery engineer, @SkyeHDD has joined the efforts to understand the PSX drive firmware and break open the encryption.

Skye has previously used her expertise to help the Xbox community with methods to safely and more easily unlock stock console hard drives for data preservation.

In addition to the need for some original PSX DVR hard drives Skye is looking for the following model retail PC hard drives to aid in research and testing:

Finally, after years of searching, I have obtained a GBA cart with a Mega Drive/Genesis emulator on it (thanks to Ankos!). I have been wanting to research this for some time after seeing it on YouTube, and it turns out it is far more interesting than I anticipated. 🧵(1/x)

It works! This Saturn has top side ram, but that wasn’t a big deal. Just needed some kapton for the shield.

Process is simple:
Original RAM CS pin 20 goes to original VDD/5V to disable it
FRAM hijacks everything else, flex grounds /OE
Supply 5V

@cosam_the_great Awesome! Though I spy a PAL Master clock (53.203 MHz) instead of an NTSC one (53.693 MHz)...
Did you use parts from a PAL Mega Drive 2? If you run it in NTSC/60Hz mode, the different clock speed may cause timing issues, especially when the 32X is used.

These are ribbon extenders so you can work on Sega CD 1/2 consoles with a megadrive attached, this means you won't have to keep plugging in and out the console while repairing the sega cd.

The Nintendo Switch will soon have a fully featured and updateable flash cart.

This will be the only solderless mod available for newer revisions of the hardware, including the OLED.

Well that's interesting... it would appear that all the parts for a Mega Drive, 32X, 3BP/MegaAmp, switchless region mod and even a modern power circuit by @zaxour all fit into the space of an original Mega Drive 2 PCB. I wonder if that's something anyone would want?

@DreamfulBlue Und es hat sich ausgezahlt, weil einige Muttersprachler mir gesagt haben, dass meine Aussprache besser ist als bei den meisten Deutschen die (gescheites) Englisch sprechen können, auch wenn ich immer noch den 🇩🇪 Akzent habe.
Half auch, dass ich viel mit Muttersprachlern sprach.😅

@DreamfulBlue Deswegen hatte ich versucht, wenn es um Englisch ging, mich sehr stark auf die Aussprache zu konzentrieren, den amerikanischen Akzent so gut es ging anzueignen und meinen deutschen Akzent so gut es ging zu vermeiden.
