Assume that Tor is compromised if you are hosting a .onion hidden service.
Cryptomarkets are getting seized regularly (Archetyp, Incognito). Activists: don't use Tor alone without additional network hops, don't commit crimes.
Everyone should be considering Monero alternatives. Know the top currency used on the darknet for years has many expert adversaries trying to compromise it.
Rotate and diversify don't stake your life on one privacy technology. Layer with multiple. Maxi-ism gets you arrested.
I've said for years: Monero desperately needs a DEX. Zcash is BOOMING from having two now, and ZSA tokens coming up next year. Troll me all you want but Monero is behind. (Retoswap is not a DEX.)
Who will be the first Monero DEX? @THORChain@Chainflip@SeraiDEX@NEARProtocol
Canada shuttered Tradeogre and seized over C$56 million of its users' money, normal traders committing no known crimes. Tradeogre has championed privacy coins for years, this is an assault on privacy.
Tradeogre victims: lawyer up. Canada should not get away with this theft.
Big drama today in the Tor community.
Conrad Rockenhaus, a Tor operator based out of Michigan, United States, was arrested in 2020 after refusing to cooperate with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation
Rockenhaus, a disabled United States military veteran, ran the fastest Tor node in the United States. He was approached sometime in late 2019 when the FBI requested he allow them arbitrary access to his exit node and allow them to decrypt traffic. He denied their request.
Subsequently, in February, 2020 his home was raided. He was arrested for violating the CFAA (Computer Fraud and Abuse Act). It was alleged that he was a disgruntled ex-employee causing problems at his former place of employment.
Interestingly, to "help resolve the matter", law enforcement requested he decrypt his Tor exit node to prove his innocence (???). After he refused, he was held in a pre-trial detention cell for over 3 years. He was denied bail after law enforcement stated Mr. Rockenhaus used Linux to "access the dark web" and he was "not complying" and not allowing them access to this Tor exit node.
After Mr. Rockenhaus' wife filed an official complaint, and Mr. Rockenhaus was miraculously released, he was raided by the United States Marshal Fugitive Task Force TWO TIMES(???).
They took him out his home, threw him to the ground, beat him, smashed his windows, and threatened to murder his animals.
They are still requesting Mr. Rockenhaus allow them to access his Tor exit node. Mr. Rockenhaus still has not granted them that privilege.
All of this has been captured on home security camera footage. Additionally, his wife has released all court documents.
See subsequent post for more information.
Experts: How would you detect a double-spend attack on Monero given the privacy of its transactions? And how would you construct one?
(context - Monero experienced what looked like a 51% attack today but was more likely a selfish mining strategy)
Monero had a six block re-organization today that looked deliberate, possibly due to a selfish mining strategy by Qubic Mining. There is no evidence of a double spend attack.
Get out there and mine more Monero. #Decentralize
All activists should obsess over darknet arrests, criminal complaints.
Mass surveillance tech is practiced against Tor crypto users, to be perfected against anyone who chooses to have a voice in the future. Learn from others' mistakes, study darknet prosecutions.
@TheDesertLynx@Maya_Protocol@NEARProtocol If you're not dealing in millions you're not serious. It's a matter of liquidity. XMR users are stuck using logged CEX's like Trocador/etc to buy *serious* amounts of Monero.
There's no liquidity to swap 10$ million of BTC into Monero today. Monero needs a DEX. @kayabaNerve
Zcash won the DEX arms race. It is now on 2 DEX's with >1 million USD liquidity: @Maya_Protocol and @NEARProtocol.
Monero still has no DEX, minimal liquidity on atomic swaps, and has every LE crosshair in the world aimed at compromising it. I have lost faith in XMR.
Privacy coins still have no DEX worth using.
Obtaining untraceable money like Monero or Zcash Orchard requires leaving a trace on logged centralized exchanges and swap sites, today's biggest risk factor for surveilled crypto users.
@exitnode_@Maya_Protocol@NEARProtocol Explain to me how someone can swap $1 million USD of XMR to anything else without using a centralised service today. A DEX is the only option. If you hate the UI go build a better one, the protocol is what works. Monero needs to race fast to catch up, Serai is its only hope.
Archetyp was seized by German law enforcement. All server data (order histories, Monero withdraw addresses and TXIDs) should be presumed in the hands of investigators. "Operation Deep Sentinel"
Archetyp, one of the the darknet's largest drug cryptomarkets, is suddenly offline with its users racing to find alternatives. It is not yet clear if this is an exit scam, law enforcement action, or actual maintenance.
@OrangeFren@Cloudflare We tested Swp anonymously every time someone made this scam claim. The site always worked without issue. Exch made many false claims about us because we did not list them. We know the operator of Swp, this is not an endorsement, but the site is not a scam.
Warning: @Cloudflare is incorrectly labeling our anti-phishing safety resource https://t.co/vdpHwWWPBv as a phishing site, because a phisher filed a false abuse report. Happy CF customers since 2019, they will fix.
As always, use our Tor site, don't trust the clearnet.
Oops...the first thing I try to do on X and I screw it up! I accidentally deleted my last post about taking over the account:
6.5 years ago my wife created this X account to give me my voice back. All this time, she relayed my messages to you word for word. Starting now, MY fingertips are on the keyboard!
Here we are, one week after my release, our prayers finally answered.
Rumours of Thorchain's death are greatly exaggerated. They are resilient af. Decentralized paths for no-KYC Bitcoin are critical for the human right to privacy.
