A landfill is not sustainable. So after Mukono fills up, what next, Jinja? Apac or Bukedea?
Soon the whole country will be a mountain of trash.
That is why I suggested a modern system of an industrial incinerator which generates electricity from the trash. The factory can sort out bio-waste and create bio gas which @KCCAUG can even sell in cylinders for cooking. Machines can sort out plastic and metal for recyling into other useful things.
That factory is a permanent solution to trash. 1,000 Kgs of waste could become about 1kg of ash from the incinerator. And even this ash can be reused as mortar for construction.
In the end, we could be running a zero waste city. This information is free and open sourced on google.
Makerere, Kyambogo, Victoria University and others have professors with PHDs in Waste management, why don’t we leverage their knowledge.
