@hunterbonair This view shows Chourio glancing at the ball, gently dropping the bat, and jogging towards first base. No showboating. Many batters would stop to admire the ball falling in the bleachers, stare at the pitcher, or flip the bat. His nonchalant approach conveys simple confidence.
@DrSeanOMara@DrIngold Studies have shown that endurance runners have a longer life expectancy, more markedly for elite distance runners. Even if the "athlete's heart" observation is valid,
the mitigating positive benefits appear to be more than enough to offset any negative effects.
@DrIngold@DrSeanOMara I don't use carbs in long training runs and do the training at a moderate, low heart rate pace and maintain an overall low carb diet. I also do strength training. Many endurance runners are on high carb diets and train at a fast pace. Perhaps the latter approach is more risky.
@DrIngold@DrSeanOMara I've run many marathons. When the medical examiner misdiagnosed my daughters death as ARVD, I had a cardiac MRI which came back as completely normal. Subsequent genetic testing found she had Long QT Syndrome (type 2), inherited from me.
@DoctorScull I'm age 69 and brain science would suggest that I'm beyond the point of achieving significant chess improvement. However, my US chess rating has increased 191 points over the last two tournaments. The tournament history is here: https://t.co/N8GmHWCiNY
It had seemed as though achieving chess improvement at age 69 was just an illusion, but after gaining 134 points in the weekend tournament, perhaps there is a glimmer of hope. #chesspunks
@sweatscience Some of my best races have been on very short training cycles after taking time off to let an injury heal. The race results might be hampered by an injury not fully healed rather than the loss of training time?
@MJAckermanMDPhD@JACCJournals@sahejbains@raquelalneves@MayoClinic There are many specific variants in the LQTS genes that have been linked through research to LQTS. I can't access the paper but perhaps the "seemingly positive test" refers to other variants in these genes that have not been confirmed through research to be tied to LQTS?
@MJAckermanMDPhD@JACCJournals@sahejbains@raquelalneves@MayoClinic I have the V822M variant of the KCNH2 gene which research and case studies have associated with LQT2. I've not had any discernable events nor symptoms, and EKG's have shown my QT interval to be at the top borderline of the "normal" range.
