Many people believe that the Bible is either the inerrant word of God or it’s entirely irrelevant to the modern world. I submit that neither of these positions is correct, and that whatever one’s faith committment (or lack) there’s much to learn from understand what the Bible is. https://t.co/k5hCj1OBql
The many tensions and contradictions of the Old Testament bear witness that its editors cared more for preserving Israel’s diverse traditions than achieving an artificial logical coherence. I feel like there is some sort of lesson for us to learn there. Just maybe.
@Godspeede51@TGirl0017@TucsonVoice28 He asked the mob to assemble. He attempted to circumvent metal detectors for the crowds. He refused to do anything to intervene for more than 3 hours. He did all of this as but one aspect of the plot to keep himself in power, knowing he had lost the election. His actions.
@RogerMurtaugh10 @afavon440 @RpsAgainstTrump Candidates can contest an election as part of the process. But after the election is decided and certified, with no evidence of wrongdoing, forcefull efforts to nullify the election is sedition and insurrection against the lawful government, and is most certainly a crime.
@RogerMurtaugh10 @afavon440 @RpsAgainstTrump Of course a candidate can sue. Then the courts make their ruling. And the courts ruled against TFG 62 times.
@catebosh !רפואה שלמה
I’m so sorry to hear this! I hope you begin to feel better very soon! Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to help you.
@daggerwing @Jonideebosch @RedCard13414960@RonFilipkowski The issue isn’t the existence of political fundraising! Don’t be obtuse
He claimed the election was stolen when he knew it wasn’t, he appealed to supporters for $$$ specifically for the election, and used the money for his own non-election purposes. He dupes his own supporters!
@AlexrealtorFl1 @andreastweeted @chrislhayes 1. pro-choice ≠ pro abortion
2. That inane retort is beside the point.
3. Either commit to supporting the removal of assault rifles from the hands of civilians or admit that you think the proliferation of guns > the deaths of children in the classrooms due to assault weapons.
@AlexrealtorFl1 @Jennife26687573 @chrislhayes Guns destroy life. They are designed to fire projectiles with such velocity that they destroy their targets.
They are called Assault Rifles for a reason. They are weapons of war that should always be out of civilian hands.
@JoelBaden Granted, most people that I’ve encountered who hold this viewpoint don’t actually want to know the reality, so it’s disingenuous in that sense as well. But I think the origin of this particular bat**** argument is sheer ignorance.
@JoelBaden I think it’s the former. I’ve seen this objection many times in discussions with folks like them. The weird thing to me is that they present it as if *proponents* of the DH believe there was no writing in Moses’ time, so that somehow the antiquity of writing becomes a “gotcha!”😫
@Sari116 @sshectman The thing I don’t understand is, Is there no scholar serving on the committee that could tell them how bad this looks *before* the decision was made to send out a letter like this? Even if there is some extenuating circumstance, this is very, very weird.
