Dear @dianabarran and @AnthonyBrowneMP,
Whilst this is largely good news, who came up with "This could also help schools to generate revenue"?

Happily there is now an alternative!

Following a public consultation, the Environment Agency has issued a permit variation to Saputo Dairy UK for their creamery site near Davidstow, Cornwall.
The permit introduces tighter controls to protect people and the environment.

The @EnvAgency has just issued an advice against bathing at East Looe due to a sewage pollution incident.
Earlier this evening @SouthWestWater also reported a combined sewer overflow activation for the same beach, which may or may not be related.
#EndSewagePollution!
Following the recent rainfall, almost all of @SouthWestWater's reservoirs are now full to overflowing.
The one exception is Colliford Lake in Cornwall, which was at 82.6% of total net capacity on Feb 8th:

Hence the surfing beaches at Fistral in Newquay and Trevaunance Cove at St. Agnes are suffering from sewage pollution yet again:

Also nearby CSOs at Halwill and Shebbear are discharging into the Rivers Carey & Torridge.

The @metoffice has issued yet another warning for heavy rain tomorrow afternoon and evening.
There are plenty of flood warnings further east, but currently the only flood alerts across Devon & Kernow are for West Cornwall rivers, the River Teign and the Middle Exe:
#WestDevonWx
There's currently no flood alert for the Upper Tamar, but there are several 🚨flood warnings🚨 along the south coast:
"High tides are expected to cause flooding over the next three days.
Flooding is expected on the mornings of Tue 3, Wed 4 and Thu 5 Feb 2026"

Our editor is quoted in a @BBCNews article by @Brodie_Owen:
Water campaigner Jim Hunt... said it sounded like @SouthWestWater was "kicking the can down the road, crossing their fingers that we don't have a dry spring and summer. They have dodged a bullet the past two summers".
@LukePollard@FredThomasUK@BenMaguireMP@David__Reed This morning the multi-day sewage “spills” at Plymouth and Harlyn are continuing, and two CSOs in Exmouth are active once again:

Here's the graph of total water storage across Devon and Cornwall, plus Colliford, Roadford and Wimbleball Lakes 👇
The recent rain to the rescue?

@EnvAgency In the wake of #StormChandra many combined sewer overflows are still active across Devon and Cornwall this morning.
That includes the multi-day "spills" at St. Merryn, Plymouth and Exmouth
