@Deccan_barb@SahlgrenskaAcad I think this is an interesting easy yet solid model for MASLD and data are online so you can look for your favorite protein!
What stops use of 3d models in preclinical studies? Its COMPLEXITY!
Can we use a simple, reproducible yet sufficient model to study liver diseases?
This study shows a robust 3d model to study and test MASLD👇

Today the FDA approved the first once-weekly insulin.
Insulin icodec, now brand name Awiqli, demonstrated superior a1c reduction to daily insulin glargine with a1c reduction of 1.55% compared to 1.35%, in addition to 6 less injections per week in the ONWARDS phase 3 trial.
Now clinicians must become comfortable with switching daily insulin users to an equivalent weekly dose and start and titrate new users.

This Valentine’s Day, remember that desire is more than romance, it’s biology too. Testosterone helps support libido, energy and well-being, and recent trials show that appropriately dosed therapy can improve sexual function without increasing major cardiovascular risk.

MARC1 p.A165 downregulation not only inhibits lipid accumulation, but dampens tumor-promoting pathways and restricts tumor growth, highlighting this as a therapeutic target for HCC.

Join us in Gothenburg 🇸🇪 on October 17! If you’re nearby, don’t miss the chance to register for our first event in the series.
Our aim is to raise awareness and increase understanding of non-classical risk factors for cardiovascular disease among the scientific and research community, clinicians, and healthcare practitioners.
You can see the full programme on the banner. Register today and secure your spot: https://t.co/gTdnsUr1rq @ProfKausikRay@KatiOorni@stefano_romeo76
MASLD has become the most common chronic liver disease worldwide. Giovanni Targher, MD, Luca Valenti, MD (@lucavalenti75), and Christopher D. Byrne, MB, ChB, review the features of the disease as well as pharmacotherapies targeting the associated liver and cardiovascular–renal–metabolic issues.

As rates of obesity and related metabolic disorders continue to rise globally, the need for a more effective, integrated approach to care has never been greater.
Join our webinar as we explore the EAS Consensus Statement that tackles this urgent issue head-on - introducing a clinically actionable framework that moves beyond treating single disorders and instead targets the underlying pathophysiology of systemic metabolic dysfunction caused by excess adiposity.

🎓Big congratulations to Dr. Debarati Guha Roy on earning her PhD under Dr. Sreedhar Chinnaswamy at @FollowDbtNibmg
Thesis: “Interferon Lambda 4 and Antiviral Responses in Healthy Individuals”
Her work shows how IFNL4 impacts antiviral immunity differently in males & females.
Proud to share our recent publication @JHepatology
This is the first international multicenter study evaluating the clinical and prognostic impact of the first and further decompensation in patients with #MASLD.
Grateful to all collaborators!
A study in @NatMetabolism shows that under glucose-depleted conditions, neurons can use fatty acids as an alternative source of energy to support synaptic function. https://t.co/Z41DPxh2Fu
Discontinuing GLP-1 receptor agonists leads to significant weight regain, proportional to the initial loss: +2.2 kg for liraglutide users & +9.7 kg for semaglutide/tirzepatide users. GLP-1RAs may need to be considered chronic therapy for obesity management. #GLP1RA

⚠️careful not to over interpret negative phase 2b with *signals*
🧐everyone should learn about FGF21, a fascinating hormone at the intersection of liver metabolism and fibrogenesis
Breaking! Phase 3 ESSENCE trial results just out: Semaglutide 2.4 mg showed significant improvements for adults with #MASH-63% achieved resolution of steatohepatitis with no worsening of fibrosis vs. 34% on placebo at 72 weeks. #LiverHealth

#SSAR2025 was an absolute banger. The talks were superb, people were amazing, & everything else. Thrilled to have received the best poster award on our work that got published the day I joined the conference.
Looking forward to joining next year :))

Read our latest paper in @CMH_journal where we put an end to confusion on how an amino acid substitution at MARC1 gene leads to protection against liver diseases.
Recently this genetic variant (rs2642438) was found associated with liver disease (1/n)
