Lunar datacenters would be even better. @JeffBezos has the right idea, but isn't saying the important part out loud: off-planet datacenters give unfriendly ASI a convenient ready-made escape vector. If we don't want ASI to be tempted to turn the surface of the Earth into computronium, we need to make sure it has a handy alternative pot of resources to utilize instead.
