Reminder: While every ordinary human takes shots of these feelings (despite the perfection projected on social media), myself and the tens of thousands of Americans with ALS drink loneliness, frustration, and anguish straight from the bottle. No chaser. No escape. Enjoy your day
To recap: getting early access to promising ALS therapies is critical. Anticipating coverage issues is important too. Both can be pursued at the same time. Concern about the latter is not undercutting the former. Now I have to get back to work! happy holidays to all.
I go to sleep each night with 1 wish:
that one day I will meet a stranger and in telling him my life story I will mention the letters "ALS." He will respond, "you mean that once terminal illness that we came together and cured?"

Absolutely!!!!! ALS can take my body but I still control my mind and my outlook. There is always something uplifting out there. We can always be appreciative for something. We can always choose how we want to face the day. I choose to laugh and enjoy the love all around me.
Today I smiled.
Not one of those fake, "I'm okay" smiles.
But a real, hope-filled, life-is-awesome, I-can't-contain-my-happiness, all-over kind of smile.
Here's to today.
