Used the emoji board as a team building activity with our academy student leaders. 15 minutes to find as many things in common with one another and to connect it to an emoji. Thanx @whittierchamber and #WUHSD for providing Ss an opportunity to network and connect!
When these amazing students discovered their teachers didn't know how to make homemade tortillas, they took the lead and became the teachers themselves! It's a delightful example of a flipped classroom in action and a cultural exchange.

@MrsEcheverriaEL When I started teaching 21 years ago, every year at the beginning of the school year, I would send a questionnaire home to families to fill out. I stopped a couple of years ago when I had poor responses. Maybe I need to start that up again.
Remember when heading back:
1. Not all kids had a great summer.
2. Avoid power struggles at all costs.
3. Don’t take behavior personally.
4. 2nd to last word is best.
5. Don’t hold grudges.

@SpencerNoble20 I would love to have standing desks in my classroom. I know that I don't like to sit for long periods of the day and think my students would benefit from them, too.
@dayna_anne@Catlin_Tucker I’ve noticed this, especially with my 6th graders. They are very conscious of their peers and the need for approval, so that can make it harder. I love the “would you rather” questions for this reason.
Last year was my first year with the Study Sync reading curriculum for my 6th graders. Spending time planning how I’ll use it this year. What are your favorite activities to do? #552bobcat#studysync
Are some of your students overwhelmed when given too many choices? 😖
Help them gain new confidence in their choice-making skills with a “𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿?” strategy! 👇🏻
