Authorities have erected razor/concertina wire barriers at key locations in Islamabad as security preparations intensify ahead of the PTI’s planned September 27 march.

🇵🇰 Pakistan is lining Attock Bridge with metal spikes to stop Imran Khan's supporters from marching on Islamabad this Sunday.

The bridge is the main crossing between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, where PTI's caravan is set to start its march demanding Khan's release from jail.

More than 2,000 shipping containers, some welded together with outward-facing spikes, have sealed off roads into the capital, and around 30,000 security personnel are being deployed in Attock alone.

Hospitals in Islamabad have even been told to prepare for a possible mass casualty incident.

Imran is sitting in a prison cell, but that’s not enough. The government still needs to build walls to keep him out.

🇵🇰 Pakistan is cracking down hard ahead of Imran Khan's march on Islamabad, and 2 families tied to his party say they were targeted.

Punjab PTI leader Raja Shahbaz Bhatti says police broke down his gate and searched his home last night.

Separately, KPK Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati says his nephew, Kamal Saleem Swati, survived a deadly attack and an attempted kidnapping, and has released CCTV footage of the incident.

The march, which is planned for Sunday, is demanding Khan's release, and the government is pulling out every stop to keep it from happening.

Punjab, Pakistan's most populous province, has banned any gathering of 5 or more people in public for the next 13 days, citing intelligence warnings of possible suicide bombings and car bombs at large crowds.

Islamabad is already on lockdown, mobile and internet service is set to be cut in neighboring Rawalpindi, and reports say roads into the capital will be blocked with shipping containers and trenches, with bus routes suspended.

For a march the government says it isn't worried about, it's going to a lot of trouble.

It is deeply distressing that Pakistan, which is the chief mediator of peace between war torn Iran and America, is showing such little tolerance for dissent at home. Detaining Imran Khan’s sisters for standing up for their brother’s freedom is deeply troubling. I hope the saner voices in the establishment will speak out against such arbitrary use of power and that the sisters will be released soon.

My mother, Aleema Khan @Aleema_KhanPK and my aunts, Dr Uzma Khan @DrUzma_KhanPK and Noreen Niazi @Noreen_KhanPK , remain behind bars.

Their only crime is refusing to abandon their brother, Imran Khan @ImranKhanPTI throughout his imprisonment — a detention the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found to be arbitrary and in violation of international law, and called for his immediate release.

For three years, they have stood outside prisons and courtrooms, enduring everything from scorching heat exceeding 45°C to near-freezing conditions, demanding justice and the rule of law.

They have endured tear gas, chemical-laced water cannons, repeated arrests and relentless intimidation. Yet no amount of pressure could silence them or force them to step aside. They stood their ground. They refused to abandon their brother.

Since their latest imprisonment, they have been denied access to their family and legal counsel. They spent three years demanding justice for their brother. Now, like him, they find themselves denied the very rights they are fighting for.

Standing by their brother is not a crime.

Raising their voice for him is not a crime.

Demanding justice and the rule of law is not a crime.

Their detention must end.

🚨🇵🇰 BREAKING:

Pakistan is preparing to SHUT DOWN mobile and internet services in Rawalpindi, Islamabad's "twin city."

The Punjab Interior Department has requested the federal government to degrade phone and internet connectivity starting Sept. 27, including the jamming of 2G, 3G, and 4G networks in specific areas of the city.

The move comes amid rising tensions and massive planned protests linked to Imran Khan's imprisonment.

Restricting communications has become a recurring tool to limit mobilization, and a clear sign of how nervous the authorities have become...
