Under the theme Unlocking Financing for Climate-Health Action in Uganda, MOH in partnership with Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), @MakSPH, The Rockefeller Foundation and International Development Research Centre (IDRC)-Canada has today held a one-day workshop to
• Strengthen climate-health leadership, governance and planning,
• Develop financing strategies and mobilizing resources for climate-health initiatives,
• Build the evidence base to inform investment decisions and cross-sector collaboration.
The intersection of climate change and public health is becoming increasingly urgent, with Uganda experiencing rising climate-related health threats such as vector-borne diseases, malnutrition, heat-related illnesses, and water insecurity.
In response, the Ministry of Health developed the Uganda Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP) to systematically address climate-related health risks through policy, planning, and investment. To catalyze implementation, there is a need to unlock sustainable financing and build institutional capacity for climate-health integration.
A grant funded by The Rockefeller Foundation and IDRC Canada is being implemented by CHAI and MakSPH to support this goal.
