Compared with conventional technologies, wind power requires vastly more raw materials for the same installed capacity.
Up to 15 times more concrete, 90 times more aluminum, and around 50 times more iron, copper and glass.
Each 2 megawatt turbine uses about 1700 tons of material, around 1300 tons of concrete, nearly 300 tons of steel, plus iron, fiberglass and copper.
The foundation alone uses hundreds of tons of concrete. Concrete is one of the world's largest CO2 sources, responsible for 8% of global emissions.
Then there are the rare earths. Just one ton of rare earth elements generates 2000 tons of toxic waste.
Worse still, all of this ends up in landfill every 15 to 20 years, with the entire process repeated.
Wind is not the clean energy it is sold to be.
If you buy gold/silver/bitcoin, and it doesn't generate income, then you will have to sell one day.
If it generates income, then that's a game changer.
@Monetary_Metals pays interest on gold and silver. Currently offering 12% silver interest on silver.
1 Govt ownership of means of production is a central tenet of Marxism. Maduro attempted this, but govt cannot produce. Hence oil production collapsed.
2 Good thing Trump may take over Venezuelan oil. He'll make it productive again.
How does anybody believe both??
This is what finding out looks like after you invade a country and kill 1200 innocent people in their homes, in the streets, and at concerts, and then take hundreds of them hostage for years.
Think long and hard before you start a war you cannot win, terrorists.
EPA's IRIS database is full of garbage analysis of chemical toxicology. It was like that when I started working on EPA toxicology issues in 1990. It's far worse now. EPA regulation of chemicals should be based on de novo reviews of the toxicological literature vs. the junk science-based IRIS summaries. The Trump EPA is correct to ignore IRIS.
@EU_Commission with 4 x the amount of people, there is 1/28th the amount of climate and weather deaths now. The only threat is control freaks like you that don't understand man can not control the climate, only other men stupid enough to believe they can
"Clean energy" is built on fossil fuels and there's no way around it.
That turbine you see on top is almost 80% steel, and steel requires coking coal at 1,500°C as a chemical ingredient in the reaction that turns iron ore into iron.
Without coal in that process, you don't get steel.
The cement foundation is the same problem because two-thirds of the CO₂ it releases comes from a chemical reaction that happens regardless of what fuel you use.
These are the products Western governments and institutions want Africa to adopt instead of using our own natural gas.
600 million Africans don't have electricity, and the "clean" alternative they're pushing was built on coal.
COP30 claims the world was racing toward 4C of warming, and that the Paris Agreement somehow pulled us off that path.
But that 4C path never existed. It came from what's known as RCP 8.5 - an extreme scenario scientists abandoned years ago because it required impossibly high coal use, unrealistic population growth and no technological improvements.
COP30 is reviving RCP 8.5 so as to pretend the 2015 Paris Agreement saved the world, but CO2 emissions never slowed after Paris. All that changed was the politics. More taxes, more control, weaker energy.
COP30 desperately needed a win, so it rewrote the past.
U.S. has coal. Enough for 800 years. Build the power plants next to the AI data centers. No need for new transmission lines & no line loss of the power. Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates that electricity transmission & distribution (T&D) losses averaged about 5%
