I’m grateful for the time and attention everyone took and will be following up with next steps soon.
I plan on making this a monthly priority for all neighborhoods in my district.
This morning, my office and representatives from Spring Hill Civic League, @PghDOMI , @PGHDPW , @PLIpgh , and the Mayor’s Community Affairs team, walked through Spring Hill to review various issues in the area. 🧵
Along the walk, we saw abandoned vehicles, vacant properties, potholes, illegal dumping, overgrowth, all notated by the department representatives for resolution.
Getting out in the community and seeing these issues first hand is one of the best ways to get immediate action.
📢Road Closure Alert! 🚧
Liberty Avenue between 25th & 26th will be closed starting Monday 1/5 for @pgh2o to replace a 36-inch diameter valve.
Liberty Ave eastbound will detour from Liberty Ave to 25th St to Smallman Street all the way to 30th St & back to Liberty at 30th St.
Starting 12:00am Monday,¾ lanes of Liberty Ave. (btwn 25th and 26th st.) in the Strip will be closed for Water Utilities work for 7 days
The three lanes closed will include both Eastbound (outbound) lanes as well as one of the two Westbound (inbound) lanes
This extension will spark major new investment in Downtown—helping projects secure financing, boosting development, and driving long-term growth for the city.
📢Huge win for Downtown: the LERTA I passed is now a 20-year abatement!
This makes office-to-housing and office-to-commercial conversions possible and opens the door to more affordable housing.
Big thanks to @WayneDFontana for leading the effort.
