Today, I am proud to recognize seven extraordinary leaders for my inaugural Rooted & Rising: Black History Month Honors. These honorees embody the power, genius, and vision of Black leadership in our district.

#BlackHistory is not confined to a month.

An American hero.
A #civilrights icon.
A political legend.

Rest in peace and power #JesseJackson. 🕊️

We have lost an institution today.

We must now carry on the powerful and transcendent work of building the Rainbow Coalition and KEEP HOPE ALIVE!

If you do not know the depth and breadth of who Jackson was, read “A Dream Deferred” by @abbydphillip.

[Ben Phillips @benphillips76]

I don’t know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is

During this 100th Celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth, we remember the triumph and trauma of our past, we shape a present that celebrates Black people in all our fullness, and we embrace our unapologetically Black future!

Happy #BlackHistoryMonth!

Everyday I get to serve the 24th Legislative District as your State Rep., I understand the sacrifice by trailblazers like Crystal Bird Fauset & K. Leroy Irvis that makes my presence and leadership possible in the PA General Assembly today.

Sometimes you gotta make your colleagues aware!

When Republican legislators decided to come for HR379 introduced by @RepGinaCurry recognizing #MaternalHealth Awareness Day, I had to let them know.

I also talked about Dr. #JanelleGreenSmith and how we must honor her memory.

[Rep. La’Tasha D. Mayes @RepMayes]

Today is the @GovernorShapiro’s State Budget Address so let’s take a look at how I and the @pablackmhc secured a record-breaking $31.1M in maternal health investments including $5 million for #Blackmaternalhealth in our 2025/2026 State Budget!
