@ScienceMagazine I relate to this so much! As a PhD candidate, reading novels is one of my favorite ways to escape the anxiety of grad school. It’s fascinating that research also shows how reading fiction can benefit the brain. Sometimes, getting lost in a good novel is exactly the break we need.
@ItaiYanai Couldn’t agree more. I would also add the value of adaptability: every student has different needs and goals. Recognizing and supporting those differences can make a meaningful difference in the training experience and is an important part of great mentorship.
@ScienceMagazine Beyond imposter syndrome, I think there’s also something powerful about being in an environment that values and supports your work. The right environment doesn’t define your worth, but it can create the space for your strengths, ideas, and contributions to thrive.
In this article, I argue that pandemics, antimicrobial resistance, cancer, inflammatory diseases & aging are among the greatest threats to our societies. Yet biomedical research receives a fraction of military spending, when in fact the #NIH is also a “Department of Defense”.
Great opportunity to join an exciting new research team! If you’re looking for excellent mentorship and interested in an exciting research topic, definitely check it out. 👇🏻🔬🚀

A powerful multimodal study of ccRCC therapy response! Combining mouse models, scRNAseq, imaging mass cytometry, and human cohorts, the authors uncover how VEGFR-TKI + anti–PD-1 therapy reshapes the tumor microenvironment and reveal the complex role of hypoxia in tumor evolution.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.”
