Hon’ble CM Sir,it has been over two months since we,the ADRE 2.0 appointees of the Dept of Economics & Stats,received our salaries. Our dept has now been brought under the Finance Dept. We are repeatedly told that our file is "under process,”but the wait continues.

Say, in your example.
A 15kg child. I have two doses of PCM available. Either 125mg/5ml or 250mg/5ml.
For 125 mg/5ml, dose is weight × 0.6 ml(=9 ml)
For 250mg/5ml, dose is weight × 0.3 ml (=4.5ml)

Diagnostic criteria for diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA):

Diagnosis requires all three of the following:

- Hyperglycemia: Blood glucose ≥200 mg/dL (11.1 mmol/L) or a known history of diabetes.

- Ketosis: Blood β-hydroxybutyrate ≥3.0 mmol/L or urine ketones ≥2+ if blood ketone testing is unavailable.

- Metabolic acidosis: Arterial or venous pH <7.3 or serum bicarbonate <18 mmol/L.

Blood β-hydroxybutyrate is preferred over urine ketones because it is more accurate for diagnosing and monitoring DKA.

The disease was neurosyphilis (also called general paresis of the insane when it affected the brain) and the treatment was called malariotherapy.

Before antibiotics, late-stage syphilis caused devastating brain disease and there was no effective treatment.

But in the early 1900s, Austrian psychiatrist Julius Wagner-Jauregg noticed that some patients with neurosyphilis seemed to improve after developing high fevers from other infections.

He then deliberately infected patients with malaria.

Malaria—particularly infection with Plasmodium vivax—causes repeated episodes of high fever, often reaching 40–41°C.

The bacterium that causes syphilis, Treponema pallidum, is highly sensitive to elevated temperatures. The repeated fever spikes were thought to damage or kill many of the bacteria, slowing the progression of neurosyphilis and, in some patients, producing dramatic clinical improvement.

After several fever cycles, doctors treated the malaria with quinine, which was an effective antimalarial at the time.

And it worked!

Compared with having no treatment, malariotherapy significantly improved survival and symptoms in many patients with neurosyphilis. It became standard therapy in many countries during the 1920s and 1930s.

For this work, Wagner-Jauregg was awarded the 1927 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Malariotherapy, however, would become obsolete with the discovery of Penicillin.
