By and for people at risk of being sent back, their families, loved ones, and supporters, to gather and share information about the effort to #KeepThemHome!
People who were placed on home confinement via CARES have been saying for a while now it seemed sus they couldn't use their FSA credits. Those who were released months, even a year late back in January said same. Seems a judge agreed!
This is for the First Step Act, Home Confinement, & Supervised Release nerds out there. Let's all give Doug Dyer a Standing OVATION! 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
Doug was owed over a year of Earned Time Credits. BOP being BOP said "ew, us? work? no!". He went to court & WON. Let's learn how! /1🪡
This isn't about home confinement being more comfortable, or bleeding hearts. This is about literally saving lives. The lives of people placed on home confinement, the lives of people still incarcerated, and the lives of the staff who responsible for their care each day. /10 🧵
In Jan 2022, three women died at Alderson Federal Prison Camp during a covid outbreak. Part of the reason this outbreak was so damaging was that Alderson was so short on staff they didn't have enough to escort women to the hospital. So they stayed at the camp far too long. /1
The coercion in this is galling. Many people on home confinement and in halfway houses know this is wrong, but are afraid to speak up because after all, these people decide if you stay out with your family or are re-incarcerated: potentially for years. Retaliation is a real fear.
This morning I am disgusted to find out how many people are paying subsistence fees at various halfway houses and on home confinement. NO ONE is supposed to be paying fees to be in community custody right now at all and people on home confinement have been exempt since 2016. /1
Be careful out there. Those phones are a trap. If you do have to have one, make sure you carry it in an indestructible case at all times, even if you have to pay a pretty penny for it.
Reminder to my CARES crew— under absolutely no circumstances whatsoever should you get on the phone monitoring system. Avoid it at all cost, even if it means a huge GPS on your leg. If you drop it and it breaks, you WILL be returned to prison. There is NO mercy for accidents.
Family members and loved ones are often collateral damage to incarceration. They are also our most valuable and important advocates. We encourage legislators to Visit a Prison this week so they can see why we ask they Don't Send Us Back. Listen to supporters explain their POV.
So happy for @walls_inside !! Step by step we move closer to fully restored freedom and this is one of the most important steps. Fantastic news and couldn't happen to a nicer person!
This is gross. It should end retroactively too! Btw they don’t just garnish wages— in Nebraska at least they’ll take ALL the money on an inmate’s books if they owe. I watched people get thousands in bail money they were collecting for wiped out that way. https://t.co/so7p0Tu6Mj
Our people been busy! We want people home, and we want people DONE. People are waiting inside, and people outside had their credits effectively STOLEN, all due to BOP dilly-dallying! We're never going to stop advocating for them.

I was having a good day.
I was getting stuff done, checking things off the to-do list! Bureaucrats were listening to me. (!!)
Then Public Enemy #1 Problem Child of a HH had to go throw a wrench into everything and f' up my day. 😒 Get some tea. This is good. /1 🪡
“We decided to not even tell my youngest, telling them instead that mom would be only gone for a couple of years.”
@MsWendyKH and a team of incarcerated activists won her pandemic release; she's now fighting for those left inside.
