@KS2024WU I have noticed some of my students lacking in basic social skills. They use their phones more than they actually talk to one another. Building in more collaboration when utilizing technology can help mitigate this issue. #wuedt6020
@LNotorfrancesco I haven't really encouraged it yet (which doesn't mean they don't use it on essays), but I did do a unit with Isaac Asimov's "I, Robot" and AI. We talked about the laws of robotics & the ethics of AI. I plan to do more with it next school year. #wuedt6020
@lizbmasters Google docs has the benefit of being so incredible easy to use and share among students, but I like some collaborative white board apps as well. https://t.co/34gW1PwXw5 is great.

@KtestaWilmu Great and timely recommendation! Our district offers mind maps as an option for the summer reading choice novel and they often come in looking scattered and messy on notebook paper. I'm going to post this as a suggestion to them instead!
@lizbmasters That's a good one as well! I used it more during remote learning, but got away from it when we returned to in-person. No reason not to continue with it, though, so I'll have to put it back in circulation. #wuedt6020
@JWhite2319 Is Gimkit similar to Blooket? I've never played either with my students, but my own kids have mentioned playing both and love them. Would either (or both) work at the HS level? #wuedt6020
@JWahl4520 I've never heard of Splash Learn, but it looks like it offers reading and writing games as well. I'm going to try it with my daughter this summer! She can always use reinforcement on her math facts.
@JDiaz003 I can't reply as a teacher as I have no experience at the elementary level, but as a parent, my kids love learning games and role-playing games. In 2nd grade I remember my daughter loving learning math facts this way especially. #wuedt6020
@jaimebaffuto Some of my HS students become more concerned with winning- to the point of cheating- than with learning/ reviewing the intended material. I now frame games less as a competition against other groups in the class & more about each group seeing the game through. #wuedt6020
@JWhite2319@tompgavin That's such a good idea! You could even have them do a kind of 'Where's Waldo?' project where they set a scene based on key geographical points and other students guess. Maybe silly if you have older students, but your original idea is great! #wuedt6020
@LNotorfrancesco@tompgavin That's a good point. At the very least I like the idea of being able to offer a variety of opportunities for students to showcase their knowledge.
@JWahl4520@tompgavin I've found it's a great option with some of my students who are anxious presenting. They'll complete a video presentation instead since there's more control within the preparation. A channel devoted to your classroom is a great idea! #wuedt6020
@LNotorfrancesco@tompgavin To echo, gaming as a reward system is such a good idea! I was just reading about Dr. Jones who argues for essentially the same with 'Preferred Activity Time.' There's a whole bank of fun activities and games here: https://t.co/y8t6jP7C3q, if you have any interest. #wuedt6020
@JDiaz003@tompgavin Such a great point! Technology may be key in raising achievement for all our students and pivotal in ensuring they leave us prepared for the world ahead. #wuedt6020
