During the trial, he produced TC from a school in UP to claim he was born in 2001 and thus 17 years at the time of crime

Court didn’t find the document reliable as is often the case because such documents are either mismanaged or fabricated during investigation

His Aadhaar card said he was born in 1993

Court then ordered bone test which now suggest he was not a minor then. Yesterday the court ordered he will be treated as major

The case is a reminder how even in POCSO cases, court does not rely on school records of the girl and often orders bone test. If the bone test says 15, with an error of margin of 2-3 years, she is deemed to be major (18) to give benefit of doubt to accused

Tukaram Mundhe, a 2005-batch IAS from Maharashtra is making lot of news due to his crackdown on poor hygiene in restaurants as well as adulterated food as FDA Commissioner.

However he has been posted 25 times in his 21 year career.

We have seen this in the past too. Honesty and dedication to work rarely works in the Bureaucracy if you don't bend to the Politicians.

Then people ask why bureaucrats are corrupt. Only the very strong survive the system to remain clean.

पश्चिम बंगाल में एक 15 साल की बच्ची के साथ एक 25 साल के आदमी ने बलात्कार किया और इसको सहमती से संबंध का नाम दे दिया आज फिर माननीय सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पॉक्सो को इस तरह के मामले में ग़ैर ज़रूरी माना है।

पिछले कई वर्षों से हम लोग माननीय न्यायालय को इस तरह के केसेस में ज़मीनी सच्चाइयों से अवगत करवाते आ रहे हैं।

इस तरह का एक केस काफ़ी एडवांस स्टेज पर है और प्रभावित होने पक्षों जैसे अनुसूचित जाति-जनजाति के लोग ट्रैफिकिंग के पीड़ित - पॉक्सो की पीड़िताएं और मुस्लिम भी माननीय न्यायालय में गुहार लगाने आ चुके हैं ।

संभवतः आज माननीय न्यायालय के पटल तक इस तथ्य की जानकारी नहीं पहुँच पाई है।

यदि एक समान एक मामले में इतने सारे गरीब शोषित पीड़ितों की आवाज़ सुने बग़ैर उसी तरह के दूसरे मामले में निर्णय हो जाएगा तो बहुत सारे प्रभावित पक्ष बिना सुनवाई के रह जाएँगे,बड़ा दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण काम हो जाएगा।
मुझे पूर्ण विश्वास है कि माननीय न्यायालय आज सुने गए मामले को पुराने चल रहे मामले में सम्मिलित कर के सभी को सुनवाई का अवसर देंगे ।

भारत की अदालत दुनिया के न्याय की आत्मा है,देश की बेटियों की सुनवाई जरूर होगी ।

इस मामले में बहुत कुछ दांव पर है -यदि सहमति की आयु कम हुई तो-

१. मुस्लिम लड़कियों की शरीया के अनुसार शादी कम उम्र होगी जिससे लड़कियों का जीवन खतरे में आएगा और देश की डेमोग्राफी तेज़ी से बदलेगी।

२ ट्रैफ़िकिंग में सहमति एक ज़रिया है।

३. मज़हबी आधार पर होने वाले यौन प्रलोभन वाले धर्मांतरण को रोकना कठिन हो जाएगा।

તાજેતરમાં સુરત એક જૈન શ્રાવિકા સાથે બનેલી છેડતીની આઘાતજનક ઘટનામાં, આપણી બહેન-દીકરીઓની સુરક્ષા કાજે રાત-દિવસ જોયા વગર દોડધામ કરનાર JLC (જૈનિક લીગલ સેલ) ના સભ્યોની મક્કમતા ખરેખર પ્રશંસનીય છે. પડકારો વચ્ચે પણ તેઓ પીડિતાની પડખે અડીખમ ઊભા રહ્યા.
સાથે જ, સુરતના અઠવાલાઇન્સ પોલીસ સ્ટેશનના PI ભાટી સાહેબ અને તેમની ટીમ નો જેટલો આભાર માનીએ એટલો ઓછો છે. પોલીસ વિભાગે ખૂબ જ સંવેદનશીલતા અને ત્વરિતતા દાખવીને તપાસ આદરી અને ગણતરીના સમયમાં જ એ નરાધમ આરોપીને પકડી પાડ્યો. કાયદો અને વ્યવસ્થા પ્રત્યેની તેમની આ પ્રતિબદ્ધતા સમાજમાં સુરક્ષાનો અહેસાસ કરાવે છે. સાથે સાથે આ પુરવાર કરે છે કે પોલીસ નાગરિકની મિત્ર છે અને તેમની સુરક્ષા માટે સદાય તત્પર હોય છે.
JLC અને સુરત પોલીસના આ સંયુક્ત અને પ્રશંસનીય પ્રયાસોથી આજે ન્યાય મળ્યો છે. જ્યારે કાયદાના રક્ષકો અને જાગૃત યુવાનો સાથે મળીને કામ કરે છે, ત્યારે ગુનેગારો બચી શકતા નથી!

Now, Supreme Court judges are terming childhood as 'age of sexual experimentation', and chiding parents of the girl for "misusing" POCSO for their "honour" - in a case where an under-15 girl eloped with a 25-year-old man and was impregnated

When age of consent is 18, they are treating under-15 girls' elopement and pregnancy as teen experimentation. What will happen when age is lowered to 16?

They are practically clearing the ground for complete parental silence when 13-year-old daughters elope and get impregnated

We have put up a strong fight in Supreme Court against diluting POCSO so far

Under inspiration from @KanoongoPriyank, guidance of @SanjeevSanskrit, @sewanyaya and @NetworkforJus have enabled dozens of intervention petitions against any attempt to dilute POCSO, including by anti-trafficking activists and victims of abuse

This is probably why the matter of diluting POCSO is not coming up for hearing. But clearly, ground is being prepared

We have to collectively fight it. Else prepare for elopement and pregnancy in schools to be the new normal

Responding with speed, reach and compassion, two #IndianAirForce C-17 Globemaster III aircraft completed a demanding 23-hour flight to Venezuela, covering an aerial distance of over 14,000 km from Delhi to Caracas.
