Our @issphm and @UCCPublicHealth editorial in this month’s Irish Medical Journal advocating for a dedicated migrant health programme to manage the health of Ukrainian refugees and all others requiring protection in Ireland with @Fionacianci@DrDougHamilton @KBeat30 @ChantalMigone
Check out @ISSPHM's letter in the @IrishTimes discussing why the Ukrainian crisis highlights the need for a formal migrant health programme in Ireland #publichealth#migranthealth https://t.co/FZTM6pNPAA
@SafetynetPC @HSELive@OrderofMaltaIRL Thank you @SafetynetPC, (so professional!), HSE Midlands Traveller Health Unit (has 2 staff, does the work of 10!), the excellent Primary Healthcare Staff in the Offaly Traveller Movement, and my tiny Public Health vulnerable groups team (2 of us- with a 100 other things to do!!)
@newschambers When PH talks to a case there are 2 questions; where was the source & who might they have passed it on to? They are not independent of each other. It's called investigation & control of infectious diseases. Embedded in legislation for eons. Talk to Public Health @roinnslainte
@IMO_IRL Either you respect us like other specialists, or you don’t... Either you want us to work in the HSE, or you don’t... Which is it #roinnslainte and #DonnellyStephen
👇this important article by @anewshack plus @annedeewinter interview on @rtenews by @BryanNewsatOne today shows how overwhelmed PH departments are. We urgently need consultant led PH teams to continue interventions to control #COVID19@roinnslainte@IRLDeptPER#respectPHD
@mac_fionn @abbeycollins202 @DonnellyStephen Agree++. Full OB response more than testing & tracing. It’s shoe-leather epidemiology, disease detective work, comprehensive & interagency, responsive to community needs. Need supporting structure, but at it’s heart OB response is about trust & relationships. Can’t automate this.
