Update: In the @FBI filing before the court, the FBI asked the court not to allow the disclosure of highly sensitive “wiretap” recordings responsive to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT). You read that correctly: the FBI admits that the Tinubu-responsive records contain wiretap material. Immediately afterward, the #FBI states that these wiretap-responsive records were compiled in furtherance of its investigation of multiple individuals for heroin-trafficking crimes. In our plain-English reading of the document, the FBI has Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on tape connected to heroin-trafficking crimes.

Not surprisingly, the FBI goes on to specifically invoke FOIA Exemption 3 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 2510–2520, the federal law governing Title III wiretaps, to protect the identities of individuals targeted for interception and information obtained from those wiretaps. The problem with this argument is that #FOIA has limited protection for deceased persons and persons convicted of a crime. The FBI itself states on pages 19–20 of Document 100-1 that “privacy concerns are typically obviated once an individual is deceased.” We are speculating, but the only targeted person we believe is alive in that case is Nigerian President Bola #Tinubu.

We truly hope that the court puts aside the FBI’s argument and orders the release of the wiretap material. If Nigerian President Tinubu is on those wiretap tapes connected to #heroin trafficking, the American people, the @realDonaldTrump Administration, Congress, and the #Nigerian people deserve to know what those tapes contain.

Sir, your assertion that you are accountable solely to the constituents of Clacton is neither politically, morally, nor commonsensically tenable.

As a public figure and leader of a national political party whose policies, pronouncements and parliamentary conduct have material consequences for citizens across Great Britain, you can not reasonably circumscribe the ambit of your accountability to one constituency. The office you occupy is funded by the public purse, and the platform from which you speak is derived from a mandate conferred under the democratic institutions of the United Kingdom.

To that extent, you bear a fiduciary and ethical obligation to account for every penny that accrues to you not through private labour but by virtue of public office. Accountability, in a representative democracy, is not merely transactional between an MP and his electorate; it is also constitutional, moral and reputational, owed to the wider polity whose interests are affected by the exercise of your influence.

Former Vice President His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, GCON, Sends message of Hope, Compassion and Solidarity to Nigerians in Jamaica

In a briefing held in the early hours of today in Abuja, the Former Vice President of Nigeria, H.E. Atiku Abubakar extended his heartfelt compassion to the people of Jamiaca and Nigerians in Jamaica, who are currently facing the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa.

H.E. Abubakar expressed his deep sorrow over the destruction and loss caused by the hurricane, stating, "I am deeply saddened by the destruction and loss caused by the hurricane and my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Jamaica and our Nigerian brothers and sisters living there."

He commended the resilience and contributions of Nigerians in Jamaica, stating, "Your strength and determination in the face of adversity is a testament to the indomitable spirit of our nation."

The former vice president also expressed solidarity with the people of Jamaica, recognising the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between their nations. He prayed, "May God bless Nigeria, Jamaica and all nations with peace, prosperity and unity."

The once-vaunted checks and balances have given way to an eerie acquiescence, as the Senate now functions as a sycophantic appendage to the Tinubu administration, thereby facilitating a nascent one-party state, whilst standiing on Tinubu's Mandate.

The refrain of this dirge echoes the soaring costs of living, a burden that weighs heavily upon the populace. The prices of staple commodities have skyrocketed, rendering the average Nigerian's existence a veritable tightrope walk. A bag of rice, once a humble staple, now costs a small fortune, a staggering ₦95,000 for a 50kg bag, a price that has increased by leaps and bounds since Tinubu's ascension to office. The cost of fuel, too, has become a Sisyphean task to afford, as Nigerians struggle to make ends meet. The Doomification of Tinubu's Mandate has also brought about a precipitous decline in the purchasing power of Nigerians. Thus, if nothing is done to salvage the economy, ONEgeria is fast on its way to becoming ZEROgeria, a dystopian reality where the value of the currency is rendered utterly meaningless, and the citizens are left to barter for the basic necessities of life. The prospect is dire, and the consequences of inaction will be catastrophic.

The writing is on the wall: unless drastic measures are taken to revitalise the economy, ONEgeria's descent into ZEROgeria will be a fait accompli. The people of ONEgeria are left to ponder the question: what will be the price of a 50kg bag of rice in ZEROgeria and on Tinubu's mandate? A dystopian world devoid of hope and promise.
