Milton Friedman v. Alexander Hamilton
President Reagan was a great admirer and friend of Milton Friedman.ย He often sought his input on economic policies.ย Incidentally, school choice was Friedman's idea.ย During Reagan's presidency, there was massive economic growth, and he won two historic landslide elections, popular vote and electoral college, like no Republican before or since.ย ย
Alexander Hamilton would grow increasingly supportive of a powerful central government.ย He would argue with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison on their approaches to government during the Washington administration and beyond.ย Hamilton argued for implied powers under the Constitution, which infuriated Jefferson and Madison.ย Hamilton claimed the necessary and proper clause was essentially a ticket to significantly expanding federal action.ย ย
The so-called nationalists-populists are more socialist-lite than capitalist and republican.ย And I very much look forward to this debate.
@michaeljmcnair I remember that! Donโt want you to get your post limited by X so Iโll link here for those who missed it first time around

@takaichi_sanae Everyone in the government should wear kimono/hakama, and then executives at all big Japan Inc firms should get a tax rebate depending on how many employees wear traditional dress
3/ Our schools still teach failed "free trade" instead of correct (and very American) protectionism.
We need reindustrialization. And we need to TEACH reindustrialization, so that no one listens to the always-wrong free trader clowns again.
