I believe Nigerian medical research is largely under-reported by both online and offline media.

At a glance, it may appear as though our researchers aren’t publishing any studies or doing “enough.” But, walahi, they are. They are, like mad.

The average Nigerian resident doctor has authored or, at least, co-authored one study. And the average consultant has authored not less than 5.

So, where exactly are these studies? Why aren’t we talking about them?

I was discussing with a colleague recently, and we agreed that the problem may be due to a scarcity in dedicated media outlets that push Nigerian studies to the public.

In the US, for example, several outlets like @mydocwire, @newscientist, and @HeartNews keep publishing news about recent researches.

@JAMA_current does same, in such a beautiful way.

Why can’t we have dedicated media that publishes news about our researches?

@nard_nigeria - I think this would be a very welcome initiative to champion.
