Master's of Software Engineering. I've made games for 17 years now. I made a game about making an AI or something, and now I'm making one about a ship.
@mcuban We want to spend more time being creative. That process involves creating things. You're talking about removing the actual process of creating things. That isn't being creative.
@TylerGlaiel In Aladdin, the genie grants him 2 wishes, only to be stolen by Jafar, who then uses all 3. When Aladdin gets the lamp back, he only has 1 wish left, so at least Disney genies are not bound.
@NeverSinkDev I think this is the right direction, I also think they're not quite there yet. With those said, I think they also need to prioritize getting Druid, Swords, Axes, etc in.
Compared to PoE1, I think they have distinctions, however I think the gear curve is a little off. We'll see.
Baby Steps, the game I've been working on for 6 years with @gabecuzzillo and @maxiboch, is out on PC and PS5! We've put a feature-length film's worth of stupid cutscenes in this thing, and I hope you like them. But if not, you can skip them.... OR CAN YOU????
RTs appreciated 🙏
@kevin2kelly Something like this isn't usable, nobody can build around something that's right maybe 60% of the time. ML / LLMs are unreliable and adoption can only happen when we're seeing reliability over 99%.
@larsiusprime 10 years ago we would not have thought that good NLP would be paired with it telling people to mix non-toxic glue into their pizza cheese, what we've really done is uncovered how difficult any real AGI is going to be to make. We've learned of how not close to AGI we are.
@Liv_Agar I don't agree with the word most, but sadly I think it's a deep set issue that likely about one in three do, and are more than loud enough and dreadful enough and awful enough that you might as well round it to most.
I'm consistently annoyed on Twitter by people who don't understand the underlying systems of how AI works. AI can't create something new. People keep projecting that in a few years it will do this and that, but it isn't capable of this or that, fundamentally.
@inval1du5er You can't *yet* prompt an AI to write the next gen database or next gen load balancer.
The mistake I think people make is reasoning about the capabilities of AI today, not where it's likely to be in 1-2 years.
@chamath Very excited to hear about how most trivial tasks are impossible a few years from now.
Meanwhile people who learned how to write code will still be capable of building almost anything.
@TacticsDesign I think a lot of rules in art are very helpful when one is just starting out, but I think you're far beyond needing to follow them anymore.
@larsiusprime An AGI isn't going to transform much if it's an idiot. We are seeing giant corporations go all-in on a technology that, at best, will compose annoying emails for you, and at worst, will try to poison you.
It looks like Twitter got rid of all of my bot followers in the last day or so. They won't be missed, I'm just surprised that this app gets any maintenance like that at all anymore.
So I'm trying to use Audacity to modify some music files, and I need to Google how to do a lot of this stuff. Every time I type a question in to Google now, it pops up that AI Overview thing, and every time it has, the overview has been completely wrong.
