We couldn't be happier going co-op with Epic Games Publishing to bring Out of Words to PS5, Xbox Series & PC on the Epic Game Store in 2026!
We hope you fall in love with this handcrafted adventure we're creating and that you will enjoy the journey with us https://t.co/2LXLorTO73
Fumito Ueda on Gen Atlas: ‘I give my absolute everything because there may not be a next’.
"Every time I’m making something, you never know when or if there’s a next.
So I give it my absolute everything for every single project that I’ve done to date, and that is exactly the same that I’m doing with Gen Atlas as well."

We played 30 minutes of the co-op platformer Out of Words and walked away charmed by its hand-crafted, stop-motion presentation and its clever cooperative gameplay. Check out our preview: https://t.co/r9yX26YJm0
There is no demand for huge quantities of slop. More commits / LOC / PRs does not equate to more valuable productivity. Users want fewer, but better, programs.
Exactly two weeks ago, TaskSlinger launched and the response has been incredible!
Today, I am releasing the first major update, with more metrics, customizable graphs, ARM64 support, a lot of polish, and much more.

@smug_dev@ChristerEricson@s4schoener@lucasmeijer@odinlang Yes, that's what it is for and the core of UE will likely stay in C++, but they are moving more things to Verse, whereas before you would write all your gameplay code in C++ (and Blueprints).
@smug_dev@ChristerEricson@s4schoener@lucasmeijer@odinlang Whoever makes the next Godot/Unreal/Unity might not write it in C++, and as soon as just that one exists and gains some traction things might change.
Also we might see new proprietary engines use Odin/Jai/Zig instead as we already are.
@smug_dev@ChristerEricson@s4schoener@lucasmeijer@odinlang Generally yes, but Godot is not that old and is only just now becoming an engine for successful released games. Unity has lost a lot of traction - granted to Unreal - in the past 3-5 years for multiple reasons.
I'm just saying this is all still recency bias.
@smug_dev@ChristerEricson@s4schoener@lucasmeijer@odinlang C++ was only really adopted in games in the early 2000's. I think this is generally recency bias - change can happen even when there is heavy inertia at work.
Many new projects are not started in C++, that's how change starts.
A Message from the Team:
Good things take time, and we need just a little bit more to get Out of Words molded into the shape we want it to be. Thank you for your patience while we continue crafting the game with love and care!
What shifted my view on programming forever is when I tried to implement a small game that fits into 512 bytes of MBR section in asm. When I saw how much logic fits there without sacrificing readability that much I realized how much of all these "best practice" dogmas were a scam
In RADDBG, the "Step Out" command has been upgraded to support block stepping! It now lets you step through blocks, out of loops, or (the traditional behavior) out of function frames.
