I won’t vote 👎 for these PE cuts. It’s contrary to CDC/health experts recommendations; backslides on compliance w/state law. Most IMPORTANTLY, kids NEED the opportunity to be active so they can learn better! Working w/@Super_GGuerrero/staff to preserve critical PE positions 💪🏼
@BrimJulia@edercampuzano@OPB Entire Adapted PE program being cut, taking away services to over 550 students! This decision has intersectional impact as it will also disproportionately affect our BIPOC students with disabilities that make up a significant base of our students serviced.
Thank you @Super_GGuerrero for reconsidering this decision. I appreciate that you acknowledge that you hear us, looking forward to seeing this come to fruition. Let's show Oregon districts what high quality PE looks like!

Teachers all over the state are watching @PPSConnect and @DS_PPS1 today as they make crucial decisions in regards to their students. I hope they consider the long term physical and mental health of their students and decide to keep #physed!
Dear Oregon- Do you know that quality physical education is crucial for children? We as a PE community will fight tooth and nail to prove that cutting Physical Education is wrong! @akohnstamm @ritamoore @BrimJulia - our children need these skills to survive!
Hoping for good news from @clairehertz and @PPSConnect today with regards to keeping #physed. Quality #physed is crucial for the success of ALL students and is a part of a well-rounded education! #ESSA
@EilidhPdx Just wondering if these cuts to PPS staff will also require students with disabilities to be pushed into general eduction Math, Science, English, and Social Studies classes?
PE is an academic subject that requires trained Adapted PE teachers to deliver specially designed content.
Quality PE is necessary for educating the whole child. State boards must choose to educate the whole child. The practices exhibited on a daily basis in PE settings are directly applicable to all currently NEEDED content and life skills in the USA. @SHAPE_America@PPSConnect

On December 10, 2015 the Every Student Succeeds Act was signed by President Obama replacing NCLB.
This law replaced “the core academic subjects” with “a well-rounded education”.
Physical Education is extremely important to an enriched curriculum.
Received this message from PPS APE. We have never felt more valued and appreciated from all the pouring support from around the COUNTRY! Thank you all for standing with us! #LetsKEEPgoing
In a state where APE authorization is required! We must provide the proper education GPE teachers aren't experienced to do. Please sign the petition.

Once again, I have a really hard time reading the @PPSConnect motto of “Equity and Excellence: Every student, every teacher, every school succeeding.” when I hear about this. Which one is it? Is it equity for all? Or priority for the majority? You can’t have it both ways.
