@Vig1lance @someaccoun10072 @Imani_Barbarin In fact i think the current set of regulations favor big companies who can navigate the regulatory hurdles to get special projects approved. I'm all in favor of saying fuck blackrock and we'd be better off if they didnt exist, but we also need to build cities like we used to.
@Vig1lance @someaccoun10072 @Imani_Barbarin have you considered that the regulations are really dumb? The following is prohibited to be built in nearly every part of my city: apartments, condos, duplexes, townhomes, single family homes with small yard. A majority of houses that exist in my city violate the zoning code.
@BilboBrainery@j00ny369T Every single youtuber, tiktoker etc has a financial incentive to get as much attention as possible. Every social media company has an incentive to consume these kids lives. She's not saying 'overthrow capitalism'. how is saying it is part of the equation not logical? it obvi is.
the leftist position is that people’s positions, even if horrific, have roots in their material reality. the liberal position as best i can tell is that 20-30% of the country has an irredeemably evil soul. i guess im going with the one you could actually do something about.
@VigilantFox@CraigChamberlin I feel like what's missing from this discourse is the "I walk" part. Nobody in the us walks. Our cities are parking lots and multi lane roads. He's prolly putting up >20k steps a day in italy.
@Geiger_Capital@stoolpresidente Your statement says more about the massive wealth inequality that exists in america than anything else. Take a minute to watch the video to better understand the tax burden on americans https://t.co/99KRHA4xzg
@smolrobots I think access (made so much worse by car-centric infrastructure) to public spaces and poor city programming are good critiques... but i'm not sure i've seen a more convincing take as to why cell phones are bad than someone suggesting the only alternative is to stare at a wall.
@NigelWatts13@rohit_thinks I think it kinda makes sense... Only about half of millennials own homes... plus if they bought before things really exploded in 2019-20 their mortgage is >30% lower
