Did the producers of this video realise that South Africa is a very big country, about as big as Gernany, France, and Spain combined.
There are places like Stilbaai and Jongensfontein, where crime is virtually nonexistent, and places like Rural Northwest where 100s of farmers had been murdered.
There are many places you can "flee" to within the country where you should be safe from racial violence.
It's very much like America, where you can live in Hialeah, Florida or Overland Park, Kansas, and chances are that you will never see any form of violent crime in your lifetime, all the while other places like Baltimore and Detroit are crime ridden hellholes where violence is a daily occurrence.
Just because there are still safe places within South Africa does not, in any way, mean that there is not a pandemic of racially motivated violence.
Atmospheric scientist here. Let me tell you what was actually "slashed" today.
Slashed: The Endangerment Finding — a 200-page scientific review upheld by the Supreme Court, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, and reaffirmed by the National Academies of Sciences in 2025.
Slashed: The legal authority to regulate carbon from cars, power plants, and factories. All of it. Gone in one afternoon.
Now here's what you're "saving":
Yesterday Trump ordered the Pentagon — the largest energy consumer on Earth — to buy coal electricity.
Coal costs $69–$169/MWh.
Wind costs $27–$53/MWh.
Solar costs $38–$78/MWh.
99% of U.S. coal plants cost more to run than replacing them with brand-new solar or wind.
That's your tax dollars buying the most expensive electricity on the market. By executive order. While the Peabody Energy CEO stood in the room.
And the human cost of what you're "saving"?
460,000 American deaths linked to coal pollution in 20 years. Coal PM2.5 is 2.1x deadlier than other air pollution. (Henneman et al., Science, 2023)
All to protect an industry that employs 44,000 people total. Clean energy employs 3.5 million.
Long term price increases in South Africa
The below is compiled using Stats SA data to show how much prices have increased in SA over the last 16 years.

13% of land in South Africa is held by tribal authorities. 17 million people or a third of our population live on these communal lands. Giving title deeds would turn poor rural dwellers into property owners. https://t.co/oQkwfLsMHk…
Zondo was the right medicine after Zuma & state capture, but the Ramaphosa govt refused to swallow it. When the state capturers walked free, SA started morphing into a state where organised crime, cartels & mafias rule & intelligence/SAPD got sucked in. We're on our own, people
This has never happened before. Every living former NASA Science Chief united to sign a joint letter to Congress, urging them to reject a devastating 47% cut to NASA’s science budget.
Led by our board member and former NASA Associate Administrator of Science John Grunsfeld, we helped bring this letter to life. Read the full letter here ⬇️ https://t.co/r2L1GOYXl2
The Film and Publications Board (FPB) is a solution looking for a problem. It shouldn't exist, it provides no service that isn't already covered by other regulations and is merely a way to employ some cronies.
"Constrained but supplying fairly". Are you kidding, @JHBWater ? Your own letter confirms that there are *SEVEN* reservoirs in the Commando system that are either empty or on bypass. Why lie? Do you think we won't notice that there is no water in the pipes?
Full Moon Observation Alert – this week, starting the evening of June 10th, we’ll be able to see the Strawberry Moon. The science for this particular Moon is pretty interesting – it is projected to have a rather low arc across the sky due to the lunar standstill and will appear quite large, especially near the horizon. We might be treated to some of the best lunar views in nearly 20 years!
Three supermassive black holes at the center of distant galaxies have been discovered, each snacking on an unexpected star. Learn how these findings are helping us gain insight into galaxy and black hole evolution: https://t.co/U6sbUiHAqX

Cape Town has a gang problem, but even for people who live in gang-afflicted neighbourhoods, gang dynamics are shrouded in mystery, creating fear & paralysis. Starting with Ocean View, the @GI_TOC team will break down gang dynamics to street level. I'll explain this map in a🧵.

This is K2-18b, a potentially habitable planet covered in oceans and about 2.6 times the size of Earth. JWST has detected carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere, and it is within the habitable zone of its star.
Astronomers discover a 'Triple Galaxy', which is a Galaxy within a Galaxy within a Galaxy, located 600 million light-years from Earth. Nobody knows why or how it even exists.
