Notice how when one of their own kills an outsider, they are in complete solidarity and fall into place as part of a criminal conspiracy to shield him from the law.

They perceive the justice system as an illegitimate outside force restraining their group interest, not a shared social compact binding on individuals. I doubt most reading this could find a single person in their social group willing to be an accessory to senseless street murder. If I killed someone on the street in anything but perfect self-defense my father and brother would turn me in in a heartbeat. They might chip in for a lawyer and pray for my soul, but they're not going to be morally complicit in my actions.

Even if you could count one accomplice in your circle, you would know your actions were rejected by society and had to be kept secret from your friends and neighbors to get away with it. For some minority groups the assumed social default is inverted and they know they can find shelter in the crowd.
