@GWRHelp Been travelling 5 hours on your service. STILL no sign of the supposed trolley service. π‘ Not even a bottle of water available. Can't wait to get into London for food and water!
@widow_waiting@Juliebynight For every "I wish..." you will find at least 2 "I'm glad we..."s.
It might take time to find them but, trust me, they're out there waiting to warm your heart when you need them at some point in the future. β€οΈ
@June4oneness@AEPsychologists@RachelReevesMP@Jeremy_Hunt LAs don't train EPs.
They may fund/provide placements to support it. But EPs are trained by respected EP Practitioners wkg closely with unis who, in turn, wk closely with DfE.
As HCPC reg'd profls we give indep advice in best ints of YP...it just often aligns well with LA reqmts.
@MartinSLewis Temporarily have larger than usual sums in easy access... specifically to fund house renovations and my child's wedding. Mainly built up during lock down. But once that's gone, nothing left. π
@MoneySavingExp Depends what the free lunch is...frustratingly, dietary requirements (gluten allergy) mean I often can't eat much of it...they often don't offer alternatives.π I end up paying to eat food they can't /won't provide.
Any sway you can pull on that one, much appreciated. π
@edpsydan The way things have been recently, if you sd a purple, feathered-octopus from outer space had crash-landed a private jet in the Thames, poisoned the world's water supply with mind-altering drugs, infiltrated the HoC and was running for PM, right now I think I cd believe! πππ
@BracewellMr @LeeDonaghy@tombennett71@ModernCassie That may be OK (?) if fams have genuine choice over school enrolment. But many don't, for many reasons.
Effectively, YP may be forced into restricted options that may not suit their strengths/ints/needs. Esp if the reductions aren't bal'd across acad/vocational, arts/sci, etc.
@Headteacherchat If they are already ID'd as SEND, your SENCO is yr 1st point of call. (S)he may find it helpful to discuss with your EP. EPs can work with whole groups, not just indiv pupils. Hope that helps.
@DanielBundred@tombennett71 I don't disagree. But it just shifts the prob to a diff 29 instead.
I never have & never wd advocate helping 1 by making others vulnerable.
You often don't need to excl the 1 to help the other 29.
There are profls who can help...if ppl engage with them.
@Strickomaster @tombennett71 Where exactly did I say we shdnt exclude?!!! I didn't give an opinion on that.
I just observed that excluding shifts the prob...which it does.
I then offered a solution to reduce the need for excls: listen to what the behaviour is communicating and act upon it.
@tombennett71 "It's easy to reduce exclusions. Just stop excluding. But you haven't sorted the problem..."
Pecisely why it's so important to undstd what the behaviour is communicating. Bc excluding doesn't solve the problem either....it just shifts it.
@RogersHistory Any child who routinely finds it difficult to follow school rules should be discussed with the school SENCO (sep to behaviour mgmt team). They can advise/support or request an EP assmt if nec'y.
Diff's with emo reg'n are a key flag for many SENDs, incl but not ltd to trauma.
@RGriffithsTEP Congratulations! I remember the same experience at my viva... Took a while to get comfortable with being called Dr... But one of those nice problems to have in life. Enjoy the summer! π
@edpsydan And when our wonderful but underpaid care workers (β€οΈ) who look after our sick and elderly take that advice and decide to move on to better paid jobs, what then?!
(ditto lots of other roles too, of course.)
@tombennett71 IPA is a highly skilled, well established and much respected qualitative rsch method. It puts pupil voice/experience front and centre. Often informs future (quant) rsch Qs.
What exactly disappoints you?
-Rsch method?
-Pupil voice?
-Conclusions?
-Rsch topic?
-Smthg else? (what?)
