#StarWars fan account. Focus on Expanded Universe continuity. My goal is to celebrate, dispel misconceptions, and encourage new fans to check out the EU.
This obnoxious "The EU was never canon" argument just wont die, huh?
Look, I really (and I mean REALLY), don't care if George Lucas considered the EU "his story" or not. I know he approved of the EU, because of his forewards in Splinter Of The Mind'a Eye and Shatterpoint, 1/?
Either adapt Tolkien's works accurately TO HIS TEXTS, or don't adapt his works at all.
I'm sick of these glorified fanfictions. It didnt work for Jackson's The Hobbit. It didn't work for Shadow Of Mordor/War. It didn't work for Rings Of Power. It wont work here either.
@Darkduprey_HS@jared_hartless I'd rather a small but dedicated and critical fanbase, than a large fanbase of people who dont care about the source material.
@Layco_OG@Mitchell_Kidd1 Yea, and I hate they changes they made/parts they left out. The movies could have been even vastly better. I still dont think they're as bad as the examples I gave though.
@jared_hartless@Darkduprey_HS Without reading the books, back in the day, I would have considered them perfect movies. Now I consider them flawed passion projects. The more I read of Tolkien's work, the more flaws I see.
@jared_hartless@Darkduprey_HS They're well made movies, made with passion, and are overall good and mostly accurate to the books, but the changes made from the books are bad, and I strongly dislike many of them. The movies would have been much better had they not made those changes.
@Leopardprins Helm's daughter was so unimportant in the books Tolkien didnt even name her. Yet she is the main character in this movie. That's only possible by making massive changes to Tolkien's text.
@LiterallyWhoTho know better than Tolkien, when he spent an absurd level of time crafting his world down to minute details. He lived and breathed Middle Earth. "Your" changes to the story are not going to improve on Tolkien's own writing. So just adapt his writing.
@LiterallyWhoTho 2. Tolkien went above and beyond in his writing to detail literally notable every character and event. His world isn't one full of holes and empty plots waiting for other people to fill. He already covered everything. I find if disrespectful that other people think that they...
