🎣 Prince William has arrived in Hastings, via the East Hill funicular railway, for a series of engagements which will highlight the town’s fishing community as well as the vital work of local youth-led & community-driven organisations.

To start the day’s engagements, the Prince will meet with local fishermen to hear first-hand about their experiences, the challenges facing the industry, & how fishing in Hastings has evolved over the years. HRH will also visit the town’s iconic black wooden net shops — distinctive landmarks unique to Hastings.

Fishing is the historic lifeblood of Hastings. The town is home to the UK’s largest beach-launched fishing fleet, which is also widely recognised as the largest in Europe. With a fishing heritage spanning over 1,000 years, the industry continues to play a vital role in the local economy & remains central to Hastings’ identity.

Argentinian flight instructor Leandro Andrés Bertazzo reportedly jumped out of a plane mid-flight, committing suicide, during a lesson with his 22-year-old student. His last words to her were:

“You know what you have to do. Carry on.”
