It’s been a big year for our PhD student @EcclesMelissa 🙌🏽⭐️ On Friday she took out the 2023 Student Prize at the @CurtinUni Curtinnovation Awards for the project “MacroMop” alongside @BenjaminDwyer4 🧫🔬Check it out below ⬇️

🚨 Proud lab ‼️@EcclesMelissa took on @BioRad#battleoftheblots and won Best Normalisation and Quantitative Blot with the judges identifying her entry as the "gold standard for quantitative blotting". Known @CHIRI_curtin for her blots we’re proud to see them on the world stage!!
The 2nd preprint from my PhD is now available!! Keep an eye out for a more to come over the next few months!!
I am now on the fast march to submission & actively looking for what comes next #postdoc@AusDementiaEMCR@DementiaAus @CHIRI_curtin @CurtinUni

If you're interested in directly quantitating endogenous #PSEN1 & #PSEN2 proteins so you can account for expression as a factor of #gammasecretase activity or compare expression levels in different cell lines and tissues hit me up!! 4/4
Very pleased to see this piece of work out in the 🌏 we used new tools to directly quantiate endogenous #PSEN1 & #PSEN2 proteins 1/4
https://t.co/fW8aTYbz4i
We can now directly account for different #PSEN expression as a factor of #gammsec activity, and show that #PSEN2 is at least as active as #PSEN1 at processing #APP and #Notch
We can now directly account for different #PSEN expression as a factor of #gammsec activity, and show that #PSEN2 is at least as active as #PSEN1 at processing #APP and #Notch 3/4
We show that in HEK cells endogenous #PSEN1 protein is 5-times higher than #PSEN2, and this expression profiles is retained when exogenous #PSEN are expressed on double knock-out background

@SaraCarder3@PhDVoice I found a couple of friends at the same writing up stage and we started a group chat, we try to check-in Monday for weekly goals, then daily in morning to set goals for the day & evening to see how we went. Additionally we help motivate each other through our motivation slumps.
@AckermansNicole I have just discovered Obsidian @obsdmd and it has changed my life, I wish I found this at the beginning of my PhD but alas better now than in another year or two...links notes, tags, great plugins, great community
Feels like a milestone type of day, finished my experiments, cleaned up my desk and now just a little more writing to do and this thing should be phinished!! #phdlife#PhD#ADResearch@AdMechanisms @CHIRI_curtin @CurtinUni
Many research-intensive countries including 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇵🇹🇦🇹🇩🇪🇫🇷🇪🇸🇮🇪🇸🇪 have significantly increased💰into #health & #medicalresearch in response to the pandemic
In🇦🇺 funding flatlined, success rates ↘️ & the workforce is demoralised… we are falling behind on the world stage #ausvotes22
We have had no meaningful increase in @NHMRC investment for over a decade. Outstanding science is going unfunded and we are losing world-leading scientists. We call on both sides of politics to support the sector & commit to doubling the @NHMRC budget #auspol#ausvotes2022
