@StockportRLFC@StockportCounty He says he’s gutted to be leaving but that still doesn’t mean it’s ultimately not his decision. Either way, McNulty will be bringing in his own coaching team and it’s probably only fair he gets to do that.
@StockportRLFC@StockportCounty We don’t know it wasn’t his decision. He has just completed his full coaching badges and I’ve heard he’ll go with Chally to where ever he ends up.
@sam_jeffs@ryan7507@chrisha89573983 Oh I don’t disagree. He’s shown moments where I can see why we saw potential in him but not enough and not often enough. But his age, and the fee, mean we should be giving him another go. Some players take time and we have to respect the money Stott has invested in him.
@ryan7507@chrisha89573983@sam_jeffs I agree he has been on the pitch a fair few times. I don’t think he has been worked with enough to bring out his ability though. And his numbers last year aren’t going to allow us to sell him for anything close to what we paid so hopefully JM can make him click.
@chrisha89573983@sam_jeffs@ryan7507 ☝🏻this. Finishing third again was a great achievement but the dressing room didn’t look particularly happy and neither did DC. Plus weird situations like Bate being completely left out of the team and Mothersille never getting much of a look in suggested it was time to call it.
@staunch1234@scfc07@StockportCounty Personally I disagree. Chally had basically never managed in the EFL when we appointed him and he did fine. I also don’t think there were many compelling options out there. Who do you think the club should have appointed instead?
@scfc07@StockportCounty I agree. I feel Chally did well getting the best out of older players like Sarce, Paddy, Norwood etc. But the focus from Stott is different now. It’s younger players to build as assets to the team. When Jim talks about culture, unity, and togetherness I think he will do that.
@Mogglers@JoshRocketHG@_SByrne@robreckless81 Chally had (virtually) no EFL experience before he came to us. I’m hopeful that we have everything in place to help a young coach succeed. And equally hopefully that McNulty’s first team experience makes him a very different beast to the youth team experience of Rusk.
@sgibbo1987@griffcounty I honestly think that would be a key factor in whoever we get in next. They need to get the best out of our young assets; Bate, Fevs, Fiorini, MM, Benno, Gardener, Cina etc.
@JayLittle10@_SByrne Yep, definitely seems like this was genuinely mutual. And a sign of respect to Challinor for what he has achieved with us to allow him to leave without a load of faff.
@IanBarrows1983@dave_philbin I think so too. He's under contract so it must be a mutual decision. A rebuild needed. Not least to get the best out of young assets like Mothersille, Bate, Diamond, Benno, Fevs, Fiorini etc. Which, for all Dave's talents, he hasn't really managed.
@BillyBy17@_SByrne Agree with this entirely. I feel a bit nervous about what’s to come but the football, with the exception of a couple of games, hasn’t been great this season. Which does make finishing 3rd quite remarkable. It feels like the right time for the club and manager to go separate ways.
@_SByrne@RoversXtra@_McCluskR So we are allowing him to leave even though he is under contract and then be free to join another club? Would seem we are missing out on compensation there.
@bwfc_elliot Either that or his agent will advise him to stay on the books at Villa and just get loaned out. They put him on a new contract when they recalled him on Jan last year.
@evolvingmanproj@tomlowe162 I don’t think Tanto has shown enough on his return for us to resign him. Especially with Sidibeh basically a like for like but playing better.
