@F_McCullough of @ProgressIreland discussed ways Ireland could learn from Singapore to address several challenges.
He mentioned that Singapore’s success is attributed to a fear of losing - Kiasu - practical solutions and a meritocratic culture.
Ireland could benefit from adopting similar strategies while maintaining its unique values.
“I think a country needs other values other than just GDP go up”, he said👏🏻
@TheOisinMoran discussed establishing a “Green Zone” named Tír na nÓg or land of the youth for longevity research aiming to decentralise Ireland’s economy and create significant economic growth.
He cited the State’s Shannon Free Trade Zone which the Chinese took inspiration from with Shenzen named after Shannon.
Moran said Cork would be an ideal place for this zone.
The message I took was that Ireland needs ambition if we are to tackle the challenges of the 21st century particularly in light of a protectionist America and European Union (EU) bureaucracy
