@KirstieMAllsopp Like or loath council tax, the bands are defined to ensure a standard mechanism, but the amounts for each are set locally (by the council), is this not devolved decision making in action? Otherwise described as devolution. Something I thought the PM wanted.
@Mugski@FennellJW I'd say so, unless he was having a PR op whilst taking a break from formal duties............Not Churchill's finest sartorial moment.
@FennellJW 1SL and Captains Uniform is the correct order of the day. A PM's 'uniform' is a smart suit/outfit, Burnham should show respect to the ship, the Ship's Company and the King. He needs to set a high standard, being a 'bloke on tour' is not what this is about.
@NavyLookout The big issue is the time being taken to get these ships into the hands of the RN. Like T26 the build rate is too slow, so added to HMS Sloth and Snail we now have HMS Slow and HMS Gradual. Once in the RN hands original names will be restored.
@AlistairCarns Recognition of the stupidity that underwrites the Energy Secretary's plan, also indicates that Labour if divided and that Al is not in the leading camp.
@NavyLookout Says it all. The DIP is a farce. What it really is, is a dip in defence spending, otherwise known and acknowledged in this article as a cut.
@NavyLookout@LukePollard If we build 'at pace' - @LukePollard favourite words - we will be like HMS Snail and HMS Sloth (sorry T-26 fans), 13.5 years away.
@Gabriel64869839 IIRC Typhoon Radar upgrade was announced under the Sunak Govt. Then re-announced by Labour (6-9 months ago ) and here it is being re-announced. So I'm wondering where the original funding went.
@TanDhesi though I am not cut from the same cloth (politically) as you WELL DONE re the pressure you are putting on the Govt. More is required but keep at it.
@wave_hoppa@NavyLookout@AWenham1 It was sitting in Portsmouth doing nothing, now it’s sold to a company that is going to use it. One of its tasks is RAS support to NATO (inc RN).
