We are excited to share that the new Chin Heritage Class, offered at @SHS_Cardinals and @PMHS_Principal , has received incredible media coverage! This class is a vital initiative to help our Chin students stay connected with their heritage and language.

A huge thank you to WISH-TV, @WTHRcom, @CBSNews, @FOX59, @wrtv , and @ChalkbeatIN for highlighting this important program. Special thanks to Amy Boone, Principal of Southport High; Jane Pollard, Assistant Superintendent; Julie Zing, the Executive Director of the Chin Community of Indiana; Mrs. Sui Tial, Chin Heritage Language Teacher; and our amazing students for their participation. 👏

This class is more than just a learning opportunity—it's a bridge to our students' cultural roots and a way for them to pass on their rich heritage. We are proud to support our diverse community in Perry Township! 📚 ✏️

Senior year of high school is supposed to be one of the best times in life. As Ethan was eager to study physics at Purdue University, his mother died unexpectedly. Not only was Ethan a high school student but he was now responsible for things like the electric bill, dinner, and housework. With the help of one very special teacher, Ethan was able to navigate the complexities of his new norm. Ethan credits, in part, his “family” at Southport High School for giving him the tools necessary to deal with difficult life situations. #WeGrowKids #StudentStories

As a new 5th-grade student, Southport alumna Mary Cer did not speak English fluently. But that did not stop her. Thanks in large part to the ELL program and a caring community of educators, Mary graduated with honors and is now a freshman at Indiana University. She credits her teachers at Perry Township Schools for getting her to where she is today. #WeGrowKids #studentstories
