@annieskinnerr You have made a good point. It would nice to see more Canadian artists promoted but unlike other countries, we don't have an effective way to do this. Having a quota would cause more controversy than it would do good.
@Jsm403Jake #MUS2011W21 I totally agree everyone got their own opinion and people are going to listen to what they want to. It would be nice to see more Canadian artists promoted but not everyone is going to like their type of music.
#MUS2011W21 In today's world, people are going to listen to whatever their favourite artists are not mattered what country they are from. When it comes to a quota you will always have the people who are in favour of it and vice versa.
#MUS2011W21 It's always nice to see when a Canadian artist is trying to make a name of themselves. Introducing a quota will definitely start a controversy between the people who believe and don't believe in a quota that would allow people to only listen to a Canadian artist.
@laura_ings#MUS2011W21 I like your point about how it depends on the generation. I believe that is true for most things everyone has their own different taste. Our generation would rather go out for a drink and listen to some live music while another generation might not.
@TyFrench8 It's a great point, many people can argue both sides of his assessment. Some people prefer to listen to the original songs at home. But also going out with your friends and having a few drinkings listing to a live cover band is always a time.
#MUS2011W21 It's only easy to find online or in a store a copy of your favourite record and you can listen to it at any time. But going out to listen to a cover band in my opinion is getting more popular over the years and the majority of people would prefer to do this.
#MUS2011W21 Although Wald's assessment does make a fair point. I feel like there is only a small population of people who would prefer it. In my opinion, I think that the young pop audience would rather go out with their friends for a night to enjoy a live cover band.
@_emilymorrissey#MUS2011W21 I agree becuase people are stealing older culture songs and changing them up, the true meaning of why they wrote the song is being lost and the young audience isn't aware of this.
@brittanyboone#MUS2011W21 I agree a lot of new artists are using other people's music and using autotune to make them sound good. They do this so they can get the young audience to like them just to make money.
#MUS2011W21 The term “schlock” should be used when people talk about this. Young white people are trying to be soon else and use someone else talnted just to make money. Just because they make it sound good doesn't make it right for them to steal someone else music.
#MUS2011W21 It's unfair when we see new artists trying to make fame and money by stealing older artists' music. Just because you had a twist doesn't make it right. Using people's cultural music without giving any credit is not fair.
@Makayla95815534#MUS2011W21 I find this is happening a lot in more recent years. The new artist trying to make a name for themselves by using other people's cultural music with a twist just to try and get fame.
@JoshuaHynes15#MUS2011W21 I agree Charles being different and using his own sound contributed to his success. It also helped shape the path for for new artist to use their own voice and show their emotion on their music.
@MaggieB07464233#MUS2011W21 It's great how he can make everyone feel his emotion when they listened to him. His uniqueness and his passion for the culture of music are continued to be honoured today. This helps a new artist to allow them to be themselves when singing.
#MUS2011W21 Charles wanted to be different so he mixed different genres in his songs to show emotion in his music. Using the voice he did, he drew more people in to stop and think deeper about his lyrics. (2/2)
#MUS2011W21 I think Ray Charles used a breaking voice to be unique. He wanted to show us how music can teach us about emotions and feel engage in what the singer is saying. (1/2)
@KaceyHutton4#MUS2011W21 It's great how people now have access to many genres of music. It allows people to connect to other cultures in the world and to help identify who they are.
@MaggieB07464233#MUS2011W21 You have really made a good point. It's quite amazing when you think about it, how only a few years ago you had to buy CDs. Now for only a discounted price a month for students you can have access to any song you want on your phone within seconds.
