2) No, women aren't spurning marriage proposals. They're just swiping left. It really is that simple. The bottleneck isn't even at marriage. It isn't even at engagement. Not even at cohabitation. The bottleneck is at the first date. And yes, empirically, there *is* an epidemic of women declining first dates! They just don't feel like they're doing that because swiping/ghosting/etc feels so low stakes and easy!

This is the problem. Most people are definitionally not exceptional. An engineering manager is not an exceptional career, for example.
