Q4. SMBSD was not even listed on the website! I feel that teachers and parents need to be more informed of the tech tools being used and how they are being used. We need to advocate for student tech security especially since we are pressured to implement tech #SummerEdTech

A3. As @CarlonMariana brings up in the video, our district has moved to an opt-out form. I have mixed feelings on this, while easier is not always the answer it is challenging to get parents to sign things. I feel that parents need to be better informed about tech. #SummerEdTech

A2. With respect to data usage at my school I feel that I do not know fully how it is used. Some data is collected to document teacher work for pay. The only main data collection that I am aware of is that of district assessments monitoring progress and SBAC scores. #SummerEdTech

What type of stations did the robotics students do? I could imagine some coding or simple machines. #SummerEdTech

A6. At my school I teach an after school Robotics program. As @miss_b_kind brought up, it's a great tool for connected learning. We do multiple sessions of our program so that all students can participate. Even those in another academic enrichment. #SummerEdTech

Admin has a lot of their own requirements and having research to support us could be a start.

A4. As "change agents" we need to be the first to support students. As @ms_stocking stated, PBL is a great place to start. Change can be hard and daunting, especially supporting 30+ students in a class, as @SesseJanford mentioned, we can not put the convo aside #SummerEdTech

@visualprint_dt @visualprint_dt Unfortunately I feel that we do not tap into these supports as much as we could. Our school has done grade level field trips and occasionally had guests come to our classes but we need to tap into it more. Coordination I feel is a challenge. #SummerEdTech

A2. With Cal Poly, Cuesta, and Hancock in our backyards they have all provided supports to promote connected learning. However, we need more community supports as @visualprint_dt mentions to bring students and "experts" together to foster students interests. #SummerEdTech

I feel that our admin is not always privy to this or they look past it due to other obligations and requirements. @JuleenPackard I completely agree, there is 2 much emphasis on grades in school. The pressures as an educator & students has gone 2 far. Students need 2 be passionate about what they do & @beckham6to4 stated they might not want 2 do what their parents want them 2 do right away #SummerEdTech

Having time to work with others on stuff that matters, such as PBL would be so helpful! We need to advocate for our own needs and PD. #SummerEdTech

A3. A big take-away of mine is the call to action and the need to change the system. Students have so many pressures and we need to bring the social aspect and fun back into school. Connected learning can help students with the daily pressures of academics. #SummerEdTech
