🚨 NEW ALERT | Pulling Ethiopia and Eritrea Back from War
The risk of direct conflict between the two countries has risen sharply. For the first time since 2000, when #Ethiopia and #Eritrea ended their last war, the two neighbours now seem poised to engage in frontal combat.
Amanuel Asrat's award-winning poem describes the blood shed by two brothers - standing sharply against war:
‘ኣበሳ ኲናት (The Scourge of War)’
Where two brothers pass each other
Where two brothers meet each other
Where two brothers conjoin
In the piazza of life and death
In the gulf of calamity and cultivation
In the valley of fear and peace
Something resounded.
The ugliness of the thing of war
When its spring comes
When its ravaging echoes knock at your door
It is then that the scourge of war brews doom
But…
You serve it willy-nilly
Unwillingly you keep it company
Still, for it to mute how hard you pray!
Pulling Addis Ababa and Asmara back from the brink of war should be the priority for all those interested in preventing a deadly chain of interconnected conflicts from snaking across the Horn of Africa and Red Sea regions.

I met with Congressman Ronny Jackson (R-TX), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs, Armed Services, and Intelligence committees, in an official meeting on June 9, 2026.
We discussed the current status of affairs in the Horn of Africa; updated the congressman #EBRF activities and strategy on how to democratize # Eritrea and the potential positive impact on the region
Eritrea have lots to offer to the world, and has the potential to become a productive and reliable geopolitical partner to US and allies

They did not “fail to return”, they consciously chose freedom over repression. They understand that going back could mean losing any future chance to escape. For them, remaining free is far safer than risking a deadly flight across borders where the dictator has taken the lives.
The case of #Ciham Ali Abdu exposes the extreme repression exercised by the #Eritrean regime—even against children.
No government should have the power to make a young girl disappear into a secret prison, stripping her of her voice, her future, and her basic rights.
This is a stark reminder that such abuses are not isolated—they reflect a system that rules through fear and silence.
The world must continue to speak out and demand accountability—
no one should have to endure this.
Urging swift action to bring her home. #FreeCihamAli #BlueRevolution

This Privileged diaspora born #Eritrea celebrating the game as if nothing happening, while their local born team mates desperately running away from brutal dictatorship & seeking asylum😭
Over the past twenty years, low estimates suggest that over 80 footballers from #Eritrea (primarily senior national team players, with some international duty cases) have absconded while on national team trips. Now tell me again how this country is not an open air prison.
