It's no secret that the IDF operates by different ethical standards than the civilized world, has refused to sign treaties regarding war crimes that all Western nations have ratified, and has a civilian kill rate of genocidal proportions. War criminals caught sodomizing prisoners on camera, snipers who've shot female journalists in the head, and Israelis who are on video lobbing grenades into crowds of unarmed civilians are treated as heroes, while whistleblowers are arrested. What gives?

You might think that it's because Israel has refused to sign on to the international treaties that all Christian and Western nations have agreed to in regard to war crimes. For example, just as Israel refused to sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (which technically makes it illegal for the U.S. to support Israel by our own American laws), Israel not only refused to affirm the Geneva Convention's 1977 addition on requiring distinctions between civilians and combatants, but it's also classified as a "persistent objector" to it, refusing to treat innocent civilians differently from terrorists. But that's not the only reason for Israel's next-level war crime history.

The reason is religious.

The first thing you need to grasp is that we've been lied to about Israel being a Western-style liberal democracy that shares our cultural values and governing traditions. In reality, Israel has more in common with Iran than the U.S. Both Israel and Iran have powerful religious establishments (clerics in one, rabbis in the other) that exert enormous influence over military policy. Iran has Sharia. Israel has Halakha. Because Israel is the only "democracy" in the world that lacks a Constitution, the power the Rabbinate has over its government and military is hard for Americans to comprehend.

Israel has the office of the "Kohen Mashuach Milchama," or "War Priests." The War Priests are military rabbis, serving under the Chief Military Rabbi, who don't help IDF soldiers with their spiritual struggles or personal needs, like U.S. Army chaplains. The War Priests are, by law, in every IDF unit, and exist to consecrate the bloodshed and bless the killing, absolving the IDF soldier from all blood guilt. These Rabbis use Rabbinic teaching to reinforce Halakha over international law, and, in some cases, against the official policy of the IDF.

Rabbinic Judaism's "shared religious heritage" is almost completely fabricated, and its Talmudic teachings on warfare, denials of the Imago Dei, the categorization of Gentiles as "human animals," and Rabbinic teaching authorizing the murder of women and children in wartime are all reinforced by the War Priests on the battlefield, instructing IDF soldiers that not only do they not have to show mercy to civilians, it's a SIN to do so, and Yahweh will be angry with them.

The current Chief Military Rabbi, Eyal Karim, ruled in 2002 that IDF soldiers could rape "attractive gentile women" on the battlefield.

Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, the former Sephardic Chief Rabbi, ruled that the IDF should engage in "indiscriminate killing of civilians" during the Gaza offensive. His ruling was published in the Jerusalem Post.

Rabbi Dov Lior, the Chairman of the Jewish Rabbinical Council, issued a letter informing IDF soldiers that Gentiles have no sanctity of life in war time.

Remember when I mentioned someone throwing grenades into crowds of innocent civilians, being treated like a hero? That was Rabbi Avraham Zarbiv, who lobbed them into crowds of civilians - on video. He was rewarded by being chosen to light the torch at Israel's independence celebration.

And for the last 40 years, these War Priests have been putting their hand-selected appointees through the Bnei David pre-army officers' training academy, indoctrinating the IDF's future commanders with this theology. Today, roughly 80% of IDF commanders have been put through this religious brainwashing, and the War Priests have fundamentally changed the face of the IDF. The results are as shown in the War Crime documentation.
