BIC Representative, @LNkunzimana, convened yesterday, Tuesday 12 March, an event exploring our latest statement on #GenderEquality, titled “Reimagining the Role of Institutions in Building Gender-Equal Societies,” and was joined by delegates from @ZambiaMissionUN and @PLinUN to the CSW, and numerous civil society representatives.

“As we observe the institutions around us today,” Ms. Nkunzimana said at the event, “we can see that without the necessary institutional vision, ethical commitment and operational capabilities, this can lead to the erosion of public trust in institutions, and in many places, a growing crisis of authority and governance. In our statement to #CSW68, the Baha’i International Community tells a story of the town of Katuyola, in Zambia, where institutional arrangements were made for men to care for the cooking and serving of food, so that women could participate more fully in a gathering that was looking at the needs of that community. In this story we can see how we can recast institutions according to the principles of equality and justice.”
